“ Brand: First Years / Nursing Aid: Booster Seat „
Having 16 nephew and niece has its advantages when it comes to hand me downs. When my little boy was 6 months old he was given this booster seat. We stuffed it in the loft and thought nothing more of it until we were up there having a clear out.
We started using this at our dining table when my little boy was 18 months old and we have never looked back. It was great to be able to put the bulky high chair away but know he was secure sat on a chair.
This booster seat conveniently deflates and self-inflates ideal for taking out and about, but not small enough to fit in a changing bag or similar. However even inflated it's only approx. 30cm x 30cm x 15cm. I personally don't deflate this as it's nearly always used on our own dining chairs at home.
It secures to the dining chair by a strap around the back of the chair and a strap under the chair. These are adjustable so can be pulled tightly around the chair. I have yet to come across a dining chair it doesn't fit.
To secure your child in there is a strap which goes between the legs and clips in around the tummy.
Since my son has been in this chair his eating and table manners have come on a lot as he is using the table the same as we do.
I don't believe this booster chair is available anymore but used to retail for £17.99 but there are a few currently on eBay selling for anywhere between £2 - £10.
I would recommend this booster seat if you are wanting to get rid of your high chair and your child is confident with sitting upright. It's great to have in the car for when you go to relatives or out for a meal.
Defiantly a great buy if you can find one.
We replaced our high chair quite a while ago with a booster seat for my daughter to sit at the table on, and it is so much easier and less cumbersome that a high chair, however any time I went to my mum's she still had the high chair and I would have to go and pull it out from under her stairs when my daughter was there at a meal time, and I was finding it a bit of a nuisance. Anyhow, my husband was at a car boot sale a couple of months ago and happened to see this First Years Inflatable Booster Seat and bought it for £2 , with the original intention of us keeping it in the car as a spare when we were out somewhere, but I thought it would be better to keep it at my mum's to use when we were there. I'm not sure what price this year retails at full price, as I don't know how widely available it is, though you can definitely pick it up on ebay etc.
This booster seat has obviously been designed for taking on the go as it can be folded down. The bottom cushion part is the self 'inflatable' part but can also be deflated if you need to save space. We have never done so and simply fold it over and leave it at my mum's but it is a worthwhile feature. There are three main straps to this chair. Two of these are to secure it to a chair, and to be honest, I would suggest that there would be few chairs that this wouldn't suit, as all the straps at adjustable. One strap goes around the back of a chair, and the other strap goes underneath the chair to hold the seat in place. The third strap is to secure a child to the seat, with the straps being attached around the tummy. My daughter at 21 months likes the freedom it gives her, as the booster seat we have at home, straps her in around the tummy but also at the shoulders so she can tip. That is the slight downside of this product if you ask me - a child could easily topple to one side in this chair. My daughter has almost toppled several times and that is with me right beside her, and has to be reminded not to do so, but with the freedom it gives her upper body, she likes to try to reach more for things etc. It is this slight flaw that makes it unsuitable for younger children.
Whoever came up with the idea of a booster seat that could be taken with you and packs up small was onto a winner and this chair certainly ticks all the boxes, in that it is portable, it is lightweight, it allows child to sit up at a proper height at the table thus removing the need for a high chair, and it is also deflatable so can be compacted to an even smaller size. THe only flaw as I mentioned is the fact that the only strap to secure the child to the seat is around the tummy making it possible for them to topple over, so it is not suitable for a young child or even for an older child to be left unattended in.
ALl in all, for the price my husband paid this is soo much better than having to trail out the high chair at my mums house, just a pity it doesn't have shoulder straps as well!
My son stays at my mums every weekend and visits her once through the week as well so we though we should really get him a high chair but then we came across this booster seat for £22.99 in tesco and thought this would be better as it would not clutter her house up and could be easily put away in a cupboard for the next time he was there. It is for ages 12months and up and is great if you are going out for lunch somewhere as it can easily be taken with you and attached onto most chairs.
When you are going to use the seat you pull a valve and it self inflates in seconds. Then there are two different straps one which goes under the chair it is being attached to and clips to secure it and the other goes round the back of the chair to further more secure the seat in place to prevent it from sliding around or falling off the chair. To fasten your child in there is a thick material strap which goes between the legs and clips into either side which is great as it stops them from sliding down and out and it is adjustable so can be altered to fit. The seat can then either be left in place for the next time or deflated simply by pressing out the air and then folding the back of it down.
Once it is folded up it has a carry handle which makes it easier to take about with you if you will be needing it. The seat is light in weight and very compact so great if you have not got a lot of space or storage room. Cleans up fairly easy and my mum has put it in the washing machine several times which I am not sure if you are meant to or not but it has kept its shape and still inflates/deflates no bother. A great, affordable booster seat with no faults and is comfortable for children to sit on.
This is brilliant if you go out to family houses or even out to a resturant you couldnt ask for anything better. It strapps to any chair and is safe too.
We all know that you cant keep putting your big highchair in the back of the car when you are visiting you already take half the kitchen sink and you cant provide the stuff you need at others houses it would simply cost too much.
This carries like a small bag it has a handle on the top and even a netting bag on the top to store spoons bowls whatever you would need or want to put in there apart from the kitchen sink that is it isnt quite that big.
it has the safety harness inside that enables you to sit your child in without the worry that they will fall out and inside the base there is an inflatable cusion that allows you to provide the comfort you child needs will a little bit of extra height.
You are able to fit this to the dining chairs to enable your child to sit at a proper table to eat with the family and you can sit back and relax and eat your own meal.
If you are going out for a meal then great you just carry it along with you. There is no more worrying that the resturant will be using all their own chairs or that they are broken or even if they have been cleaned properly before you put your child in it. When you are finished just fold it up and zip it and you are away no more hassles.
I have recently purchased this booster seat to take to friends/relatives houses and also for eating out as not everywhere we go either has high chairs or has enough high chairs.
It has a soft padded insert in in addition to the inflatable portion in the seat part whcih makes it a reasonable height allowing my son to reach the table well.
It has one strap to go under the chair and one strap to go round the back of the chair, my son is quite a wriggler so I have made sure he is pushed right up to the table though I don't think he could escape!!
The material on the internal part of the seat could be easier to clean but I didn't have any trouble wiping the spilled food!!
One of the biggest advantages of this booster seat is it's size for storage, it is easy to pop under the buggy if going out or leaving in the boot of the car and hardly takes up any room, but having the inflatable portion means it is still a good height when in use.
Initially the inflatable part didn't inflate well but it states in the instructions that this is normal and won't happen after the first use, and recommends inflating at home before using the first time.
Overall I feel this was a great purchase and will be very useful
Compact and light for easy and convenient transporting.
