Advantages: Simple, effective, cheap
Disadvantages: None
When I was pregnant with my little girl I already knew that I would want one of these flasks. My sister had used one of these flasks with her little girl so I knew how useful they were.
This design came out when I was pregnant and it was much nicer than the previous plain white larger model. It came in two colours silver and blue and silver and purple.
This flask is not overly different to any normal flask, you fill it with hot water and it keeps it warm for you, so you may ask why you need this particular flask when you have a baby.
The simple answer is the lid. There is a simple screw on top as with any other flask but then over this there is a large plastic lid which screws on the flask. When taken off this lid is like a large beaker and is then used for you to pour your hot water into. Then within this water your place your babies bottle or food jar for it to be warmed safely.
The design of the container means you can put in any style 9 ounce bottle or food jar. It can also hold a variety of tupperware style containers which you may have prepared your babies food in.
I used this flask every time I took my little girl out. I would fill it with hot water from the kettle in the morning and it would remain hot in the flask for a full day. I would often reuse the water in the flask if I was out for a full day and each time it would be warm enough to heat her food and bottle.
The flask easily fitted into my changing bag and I used to place it near my daughters spare clothes in the bag so that these were kept warm from its heat too.
I used this flask on numerous occassions for a couple of years and it never failed me. It never leaked and although it was dropped on a couple of occassions it never cracked.
Once my daughter was older I passed this onto a relative and it is still being used now so has been going for a few years.
I preferred taking this flask out with me rather than relying on hot water from restaurants whilst we were out. I liked the felexibility it gave me as I could warm her bottles/food as soon as I wanted to rather than waiting for a waitress to sort me out.
These flasks retail at around £10 and are available at many shops including Boots, Mothercare and John Lewis.
Summary: An essential item for a new mum in my opinion.
