Fisher Price Little Bears Give Big Hugs Bouncer
I was lent a winnie the pooh bouncer from my friend who has a little girl who is now too old to use it. In the first few weeks we put Jack in it a few times and he really did like the vibrations that the bouncer gave. Unfortunately my friend had lost the hanging toys, which would encourage Jack to reach out and grab. This particular bouncer kept cutting off and the vibrations seemed to work sporadically.
I didn’t really want to pay out for a new bouncer but after the old one finally giving up and not vibrating at all I thought it time to spend a little money! My first port of call, as it always is, was Argos. There were a few different bouncers to choose from the cheapest being around £10 but with no vibrations. There are others that cost about £70 but these have vibrations, light, music and swing as well as bounce. Seeing as Jack can only use it till he is able to sit unaided I thought I would opt for a reasonably priced bouncer and chose this Little Bears Give Big Hugs Bouncer costing £29.99p.
The bouncer is said to be a deluxe model! It is made by fisher price and as I have said before encourages the child to reach out and grab the toys. The bouncer needs to be slightly assembled and I did this myself and found it pretty straight forward as the instruction pamphlet was easy to understand. It took me about 15 minutes to set up all in all.
The bouncer needs one large D battery and luckily I purchased this at the same time. The bouncer is made up of three main parts once it is all set up. These are, the main seat of the bouncer that is a nice beige colour with teddy bears printed on the fabric it also has the control switch for the calming vibrations, which is situated at the foot of the bouncer and is a very simple on/off mechanism.
The second part is the overhead bar and this bar clips in to the main body of the bouncer with great ease but it is not quite as easy to remove it because it is clipped in so firm. The over head bar has a mirror dangling down from the centre which cannot be removed unlike the two teddy bears either side of the mirror that are attached to the bar with small pieces of Velcro making it easy for the baby to pull them off!
The final part of the bouncer and the part that really is an extra bonus is the matching fleece type blanket that you are able to attach to the main body of the bouncer with Velcro underneath. It fits perfectly on and even has a gap where you can turn the vibrations on or off easily.
Jack seems to really like this bouncer far better than the old winnie the pooh one we has borrowed. The seat of this is much further off of the ground and means that the whole chair seems to actually bounce much better with every movement he does. The vibrations are rather intense and his little feet buzz wildly! He does seem to like the vibrations and can easily fall asleep in this chair bouncer. He loves the Teddy bears and has begun to reach out to touch them although has yet to pull them off. He looks still fairly small in it although he is a large baby for his age but the bouncer is suitable up to 9kg and from birth. He really enjoys sitting in it and it does give me a break from holding him on the sofa so I can get on with other things.
The chair is easy to move around because it has two side handles that allow you to pick the whole thing up without it bouncing around. I have laminate floors and was worried about it sliding around but there are several handy rubber grips on the base of the bouncer to prevent it doing just that.
The whole lot of material can be machine washed which is just perfect and totally needed. Jack loves sitting in it and even though I didn’t want to pay out any money for something he wont be using for that long I would say it is well worth the money. I have a couple of friends who are pregnant at the moment and think I’ll offer it to one of them to borrow until I need it back for my next one!!! A great buy well worth every penny.
Summary: a great seat for newborns!
