Advantages: is the same width as a single buggy.

Disadvantages: The weight is distributed on the front making it hard to push

My eldest daughter was born when my son was only 14months old. I couldn't expect him to walk much of a distance at all so I decided to buy a tandem buggy.
Tandem buggies are designed for two children with the older one seated at the front and the younger one at the back. The back seat reclines to a fully lie back position thus making it useful for a newborn baby.
I thought I had made a good choice - but soon changed my mind.
As the older child is at the front, the weight is also on the front of the buggy, making it extremely awkward to manage simple tasks such as crossing a road or going up a kerb. I found I had to stop pushing the buggy so that I could push my weight down on the handle to literally bump it up the kerbs. This continuous action soon took its toll on my back.
At the time I was living in a first floor flat and getting into the lift was a chore. There was only just enough room for me to fit in with the buggy although I admit that is not the buggys fault entirely.
It was difficult to collapse so you could forget bus journeys and in all was the worst thing I could have bought.
I soon had enough and bought a side-by-side buggy. Okay, so I had to queue up in the wide aisle but it did make a difference.
