This product has been one I have been considering for some time but after earning myself enough in Amazon vouchers I decided to get it and I am so glad I did. What with every healthcare profession going on about the dangers of cot death and the associated causes it really does make any parent sit back and worry.


Room temperature should be maintained to the recommended level which is between 16 and 20 degrees. If a baby gets too hot there is an added risk of cot death as small babies are unable to control there own body temperature by kicking off blankets and so on it is important that you are aware of how hot or cold the room they sleep in is.


I personally love the tropical climate and can be found with the heating on 24/7 and it wasn’t until I bought this particular product that I realised how warm I actually keep our flat.


This product is ideal as a room thermometer due to the fact that it has a colour changing light to let you know what the temperature is doing just by a simple glance at the unit. The Grobag has four different colours that it can change to and these are:
Blue – indicating that the room is too cold (under16degrees)
Yellow – indicating that the room is at the recommended temperature (between 16 and 20 degrees)
Orange - indicating that the room is warm (between 20 to 24 degrees)
Red – indicating that the room is too warm (over 24 degrees).


To look at the unit it is, as the name suggests, in the shape of a large egg (rather ostrich like) and on the front there is a round digital section showing the temperature in figures. On the front is the temperature gage and the back shows all the colours with the temperature information next to it. The unit has to be plugged in and on the back is the socket for the adaptor to go. There is a very simple on/off button on the bottom of the unit.


The great thing with this particular product is that it is not only a room thermometer but also a baby night light giving a gentle glow for child to feel safe and relaxed with. The egg is easy to set up and all you need to do is plug in the adaptor that the Grobag egg comes with and press the on/off button n the base. The temperature will appear on the screen straight away and the colour of the egg will glow immediately. The light from the egg is very subtle and in daylight is fairly hard to notice but at night is gives a gentle glow with colours that are unmistakable.


The small instruction leaflet that comes with the Grobag egg is adequate for the ease of which this product can be used. It gives all the right information on set up and other information about making a safer environment for your child to sleep in. it also gives information that would only be useful for people without any common sense at all. For example it tells of how to cool down a room by methods such as opening a window or turning down the radiator! But there is more useful information on the type of blankets to use when the temperature is at a certain level. Considering the leaflet is so small there holds a lot of important information.


I have found this particular product a great purchase and worth the £20 I paid for it. It is simple to use and very effective. The fact it has more than one use is also a bonus and as a night light is perfect. I find it easy to move round the house as long as I can find a free power point for it and it is a very useful item for anyone to have but especially parents.


It really has given me peace of mind and I was surprised at how hot I have my flat so I was able to alter that to suit Jack’s needs. It looks good and works well for the price a total must have!
