Advantages: Easy grip twin handles, easily cleaned, easily transported

Disadvantages: Lid is difficult to remove

The Healthy Eating Cow Cup by Amadeus was the first cup that I bought for my son when I began weaning him. It has since become a firm favourite, second only to his Tommee Tippee cup with straw over the last few months.

This cup is available from Tesco at just £2.08 and is suggested for babies of 6 months onward.

The Healthy Eating Cow Cup has an attractive cow print design which is what initially drew me to this product. It has twin handles for easy grip and my son found it simple to use from the very first introduction.

It has a spill proof valve which I personally only used once or twice. I found that although it prevented spills it made me a little weary of how much milk my son could drink from the cup while it was in place. I much preferred to have it free flowing, even if that meant a few spillages around the house.

At the top of the cup is a cap which fits over the spout. This cap blends in as it is designed in the form of one of the patches in the cow print design.

The cup has a simple press-on lid. This can be tricky to place on at times, yet it does not cause any liquid to spurt up unlike his Tommee Tippee First Cup. It is however quite difficult to remove and I usually fail to do it without the help of my husband.

The cup is made from strong plastic and the spout is stated as being 'bite-resistant'. The whole product is very simple to clean and there are no crevices for bacteria to hide in.

My son is now 17 months old and predominantly uses his Tommee Tippee cup with straw. However this cup has certainly had a great deal of use since it was purchased when he was just 6 months old.

I have found that he drinks far more from it than any of his other free flowing cups. It spills a little without the valve, but not a great deal and the cap at the top makes it great for transportation.

This is overall an attractive and very easy to use cup which I would highly recommend when weaning.

Summary: An attractive and easy to use first cup
