“ Brand: Hello Kitty / Type: Bottle „
This is a review of the Hello Kitty Silicone Spout Twin Handled Beaker we have for our daughter which holds 300ml and we use it for water or juice.
The beaker is pink with a picture of Hello Kitty on the side holding a balloon. There is also a two handled neck collar which is yellow. The actual bottle is smooth to hold and has rounded edges.
My daughter took to this cup straight away. It says it is suitable for use from 9 months onwards and we were trying to get her away from a teat style bottle but she is still hooked on them (and chewing away!) and this teat is still a sillicone and highly chewable.
Washing the beaker is easy, it comes apart into five pieces: the main body (plastic), two handles on a ring, the neck collar which screws on to the main body and the actual teat which is a spout shape and there is also a lid to the bottle. We use a bottle brush and soapy water and give the bottle a good rinse before reusing.
The transfer on our bottle soon began to fade with washing and now only has a partial Hello Kitty picture on it. I don't think it lasted very long at all before it started to deteriorate.
I like the optional handles and you can choose not to use them if your child is able to grasp the bottle. It is also handy that the bottle holds a lot (300ml) as it lasts a little bit longer. Our daughter loves to drink and will always choose a drink over food so we have to take the drink off her as she never puts it down. I have a box in the kitchen cupboard full of different shaped lids for bottles as we have literally tried hundreds of styles in our quest to get her moving off teats. The lid on the HK bottle can be a bit awkward to remove as it is smooth and nothing to grip on it but it does prevent leakage in transit. I don't think the quality of the bottle was great as you will always be washing and scrubbing baby bottles so the picture should be a bit more hardy to withstand this.
I bought our bottle from Boots for £3.99. This also included points so works out a little cheaper in the long run.
Being a sucker for anything Hello Kitty I loved the bottle and wanted to try our daughter with this different style but it wasn't exactly the solution we were looking for. Whilst this bottle has its plus points, I wouldn't go out and buy another one in the same style.
I note for the boys that an identical style beaker can be bought from Boots in the Thomas the Tank engine style so if you have a boy you can still try this style of drinking cup!
