Allthough we bought 5+ years ago they... 1) gave us a contact number for a local repair firm. 2) asked us to describe the symtoms/faults 3) talked us through some basic checks 4) explained a few more complex checks if we were technically-minded enought to take the back off safely. One of the checks under (4) fixed the problem.. I am impressed with this level of service !! P.S. for the initial cost of the oven we had a 5 year parts warranty with none of the "hard sell" from the supplier either.... ... more |

I purchased an ATAG oven (dutch made) in 1996....double oven, both with grills and largeroven is turbo.. Works well for our needs; family of 4.. Last week the top oven stopped working..... Rang the manufacturers' helpdesk in the UK.. I've got a 2 year old house, but the oven that has been fitted is built into the kitchen. All of the oven guards that I've seen rely on being able to stick something onto the side of the cooker. To get around this, we use a couple of cupboard locks to tie the oven door to the adjacent cupboard door. However, this is a botch and would stop a determined toddler. What would be far better would be to have a secure toddler-proof lock built into the cooker. It wouldn't be rocket science but it would give a must-have feature for a significant proportion of the population. ...

I bought on aven door guard a while ago from Toys R Us because it had been reduced down to about £5.00, so I thought it'd be worth giving a go. The guard is basically made of thick plastic - there are two end bits that you put on the sides and can be extended to fit almost any over door. You then put a screw in to fix it all together, attach the sticky pad feets and stick it to the door. Easy enough, but the sticky pads don;t last at all well. I don;t know if it's the heat of the oven or the stuff they use on the sticky pads, but ours stayed in place for about 5 weeks before it started to come loose. Eventually the stickiness just wore ...
