As my daughter is now nearly 6 months we are starting to wean her onto solid foods, therefore needed a high chair. I did a lot of research online and found that the Ikea Antilop high chair was one of the most recommended. ~ Cost and Availability ~ This is an Ikea own brand so is only available new at Ikea. It costs £11 for the chair, £4 for the tray and £5.50 for the supporting cushion. So in total I only sent £20.50. This is so much cheaper than the high chairs I have seen in Mothercare etc, a lot of them nearing the £100 mark. As money is tight at the moment this was a great relief when I found this chair. There are a few second hand ... Read the complete review

Weaning babies is a messy business! Buying baby equipment, such as highchairs is an expensive business - or so we thought... A highchair is an essential piece of furniture you have to buy at some point once you become a parent, and the big brands know it - and make such items ridiculously expensive because they know parents feel obliged to pay up, wanting to buy the best for their children. There are some highchairs on the market for a three figure sum, which is more than I'd pay on a dining chair for myself - and they are usually made of plastic (not even gold plated), cumbersome, difficult to clean and simply not worth it for the 18-24 months they are ... Like most parents, my time is precious and I'd much rather spend it playing with my kids than tidying up after them! It is certainly no coincidence that I switched from an all-singing, all-dancing luxurious padded highchair to this basic no-frills model from Ikea, once my youngest son was a year old. The original Chicco highchair was the bane of my life and a real chore to keep hygienically clean whereas this 'Antilop' highchair can be cleaned in seconds, no matter what my little one subjects it to. Having three children, I was already familiar with this basic style of highchair as it is a very popular choice with many restaurants and cafes. I had decided to ... Read the complete review

- Why We Bought - I knew before my baby was even born that I wanted an attractive wooden highchair after seeing a friend's, so when my parents asked what they could buy our son for his 1st Christmas I suggested a lovely highchair from John Lewis. My son was going to be six months at Christmas but by the time he was five months we realised we needed a highchair straight away as we had already started the weaning process. A few of our friends had recommended the Ikea Antilop Highchair as it is such a great price, is simple to use and easy to clean. I thought this would make a great second highchair as it is much more lightweight than our wooden one and therefore is ... Read the complete review

We were given the Ikea Antilop highchair for our son when I began weaning him at around 5 months. I gratefully accepted it, however, I fully intended to replace it with a more expensive chair from Mamas & Papas as after seeing the Antilop in Ikea I knew that it only cost around £15 and didn't hold out much hope for it. The chair is very solid in construction and the chair itself is made from blown plastic. Ours is White but I believe you can also get the chair in blue and red. It then has four metal legs that are attached to the bottom of the seat via clips, allowing you to easily remove the legs for storage. Our chair has a detachable tray that simply ...
