Advantages: Cheap, attractive, sturdy and easy to clean

Disadvantages: Bad luck if you don't live near Ikea

This has to be my best baby buy ever, so good I'm about to get another one so number two will be able to use one at the same time as his big brother when it arrives. A very basic white moulded plastic chair, with detachable white plastic coated metal legs. Doesn't come with a tray or a harness, but these accessories can both be picked up for less than three pounds each. Nice height, fits perfectly under our dining table, so baby can join you for a meal if you wish. Very strong and well balanced. My crazy two year old has never managed to tip it up or even rock it, despite lots of trying! Legs are very easy for an adult to remove, about 30 seconds for all four maximum, but impossible for a child to mess about with, due to safety button.

The moulded shape makes it hard for babies to find crevices to hide food in for later. No cracks for tiny fingers to get stuck in. Moulded plastic is very easy to clean, and doesn't get stained, even by those strange orange dies in baby food, and you can use harsh bleaches on it without harming it. If it gets really grubby you can simply remove legs and place seat in the sink, it dries in seconds.

White makes it hard for dirt to hide, so you can see any areas you've missed. It would also look nice in any home, as simple basic design.

Very easy to transport. I brought it home from Ikea on the tube and busses, with three month old baby and pram, and bag of collected Ikea bits I picked up on the way round, without any problems. Although it is stable it is lightweight. Fits easily under pram or in car boot, so great for holidays.

At this price, think about other uses for it. Keep one at Granny's house; she can easily store it when you're not using it. Have a spare in the kitchen for when you're cooking so baby can see what you're up to, or even help when bigger. Use one in garden as a durable, easy to clean outdoor chair. Take of legs and use moulded se
at as support for young baby in paddling pool or bath (supervised of course).

Don't be put off by the price and assume there must be something wrong with it, I've had mine for 2 years with no problems at all, it really is brilliant.

I'm very tempted to buy this after reading your opinion - I have a £10 Ikea voucher, but that's because I've had bad luck with Ikea products in the past, but you've had this chair 2 years you say, I'm pretty near convinced and need to get one soon, my baby is nearly 6 months and can nearly sit up unaided.

We bought one originally to go down to grandma and dad but it never made it that far. For a long time it was our garden highchair but 1 month ago it got cleaned up and it is now my portable friend for when we are going to friends houses I know I will need a highchair with ..
