Advantages: Reclines, easy to clean, folds small for storage, additional tray, wheels for ease of moving.
Disadvantages: None.
I wanted a funky modern looking highchair, but preferably without the designer price tag. I considered the Mamas & Papas 'Loop' & the Bloom Fresco, but with both having price tags around the £300 mark, I kept looking...
That's where the Inglesina Zuma comes in. Inglesina is an Italian company, so you get Italian design, but at a reasonable price of around £150 (RRP £165, but shop around - I found one at Kiddicare.co.uk for £138. See my Kiddicare review for details).
As well as looking good, the Zuma is also very practical - a seemingly rare combination nowadays. Looks-wise, the highchair is made of a matt white plastic & aluminium, & comes with seat pads in various colours. The main colours available in the UK are black graphite, orange & red. Turquoise can rarely be found in the UK, & a new colour - lime green - is currently unavailable here. I really wanted the lime green & waited to find out if it was being released here, only to find out it isn't (yet...), so opted for black graphite instead.
So, that's the appearance covered, now onto the features....
The chair is height adjustable, with 8 positions (from 50 to 80cm) & an easy to use telescopic mechanism.
The seat has a reclining backrest, with 3 positions (for eating, playing & napping).
The seat is a simple moulded monocoque design which is easy to clean & comes with removable pads which are machine washable. The seat pads are a 'double layer', so that once the main pad is removed, you are left with a simple pair of bottom & back pads so that some padding remains when the other is in the wash. For safety, the seat features a 5-point harness.
The tray can be slid forwards & backwards for ease of access & features a second removable tray which is dishwasher safe. Perfect for eating & playing.
The chair legs fold up, so it's really compact. When folded the legs form a stable base, along with a set of wheels, which mean it can be stood up or wheeled around easily. When folded, & the chair set on the lowest height, the whole thing can be stored under the table or in such as understairs cupboard.
Dimensions when open: 61-101.5cm high, 55cm wide, 80cm deep.
Dimensions when folded: 61-101.5cm high, 55cm wide, 47cm deep.
I absolutely LOVE this high chair! It is so funky & looks great in my modern kitchen, & folds away neatly in the corner under a display unit. My son has been able to sit in it from 3 months old, due to the comfy seat & the recline feature. All this for a really reasonable price too!
I can't think of any downsides to this product....some people may perhaps want storage under the chair since many highchairs have this feature, although it seems a bit pointless to me anyway...
Summary: Stylish, fuss-free highchair.
