Advantages: Very slim, extremely absorbing, soft, stick well to the bra, individually wrapped

Disadvantages: The price but it is worth every penny

Nursing pads or breastfeeding pads may not be on many people's minds but when you've just had a baby (and even some months later if you are breastfeeding) choosing the right pads will sometimes prove tricky. Bear in mind that you will also need breastpads if you decide to express milk and if you decide to stop breastfeeding soon after giving birth. In all cases you will "leak" breastmilk. Sometimes very heavily.

After giving birth I tried fabric pads, which my mother-in-law kindly bought and I also tried the Johnsons ones you get free in the Bounty pack.

I was not entirely convinced by either.
It is very important to have the right pads as you don't want to risk your breasts leaking in public, especially as sometimes you won't even know you're leaking. The funny looks of passers-by might give you a clue though!

I headed to Mothercare and Boots and had a look at all the breastpads available. Because I had used Lansinoh as a nipple cream and it saved me from excruciating pain, the brand stuck in my mind and I thought "If the breastpads are as good as the cream then it's got to be worth splashing out".

Yes the price is high. I remember paying around £5.50 for a box of 56 pads but never came to regret it.
They are individually wrapped which is great because there will be times when only one breast is leaking so you'd only need to change one pad.
They are so slim they go completely unnoticed under your bra.

When other brands had left me with itchy or dried breasts or the pads wouldn't really stick to the bra, Lansinoh pads were very soft and very absorbing for a longer time, which meant that I didn't leak breastmilk onto the bed sheets at night and I never leaked when out and about. Not once was I worried about having leaks and they gave me the confidence to go out more in the first days after giving birth.
They also stuck to the bra really well and never once fell (again unless other brands I'd used).

I would recommend them to wear when you're out and about and at night (for your comfort and peace of mind).
During the day, I'd advise you to use cheaper pads such as Boots own especially if you're stuck at home as it won't matter much if you have leaks when you're at home and you can always change them more regularly than the Lansinoh ones plus you'll save a bit of money too.

I'd say Lansinoh pads are the best but having also tried Tommy Tippy ones, I'd say they come very close to equaling Lansinoh.

Summary: A lovely nursing accessory which makes breastfeeding easier
