Expensive but worth it (Lansinoh Lanolin)

After the home birth of my third baby I had a few medical problems and ended up in hospital. Had I been at home I would have started a routine from birth to get my baby settling on his own and fed at roughly three hour intervals. Unfortunately I was rushed into the hospital and left there for two days. I was so desperate not to upset the other mothers or babies that I was literally feeding my son around the clock so he wouldn't disturb anyone. I ended up with sore scabby nipples by the time I was finally let out.

Once I was home and my midwife came to visit she saw the state I was in and recommended this Lansinoh cream to me. With my first baby I had used Camilosan which was good but had a funny smell.

I sent my husband out to the local chemist where he bought a tube for just over £9! I was shocked at the price but when my nipples where completely healed two days later I was full of praise for this miracle cream.

It looks and feels a bit like vaseline and is quite hard so you have to massage the tube before you use it so you can get it out and so that it is pliable enough to smooth over your skin. It doesn't really have a fragrance but it isn't unpleasant.

Because we had paid so much for the cream I have been determined to use it and have found it is great for all sorts of ailments. I have used it for dermatitis on my hands, nappy rash, dry skin and even on my baby when he had got bits of sore skin in his leg and arm creases.

This cream is really useful and I would recommend it to anyone even though I am still a bit shocked by the price.

Summary: I wouldn't have bought this without a recommendation but am glad I did.
