Lansinoh cream- Essential for breastfeeding (Lansinoh Lanolin)

Advantages: relief/prevention of cracked/sore nipples, a little goes a long way

Disadvantages: very thick so can be hard to squeeze out of the tube and apply

Lansinoh cream was recommended to be by several people before the birth of my twins. I bought some and although fairly pricey, it has been well worth the money (as are Lsnsinoh breast pads- the two together are fab). I fed both of my boys from birth and due to various problems I also had to express. I was advised by the midwives in hospital to use the cream straight away to prevent soreness and I'm sure it's the reason I never suffered.

Unlike some other nipple creams it does not have to be wiped off before feeding and it seems to help my smaller son latch on more effectively. I now usually only use it once a day which is enough to keep my nipples crack free.

A couple of points to note are that the cream (like vaseline in appearance and texture) is very thick and if the tube is cold it'd quite hard to squeeze out. You do need to use breast pads even if you are not leaking because it will leave greasy marks on your bra, although if I recall correctly, I think it washes out. If you express and there is any Lansinoh on your breast, it will leave a white greasy residue on the pump, which is unpleasant but not a problem.

Summary: Very minor cons, far, far outweighed by the pros. Well worth the money
