Lansinoh Nipple Cream
Member Name: bringingsexyback
Advantages: Stops the pain you can experience when breast feeding
Disadvantages: It is very greasy
WHAT IS IT?
An ointment to help repair and protect sore and cracked nipples while breast feeding. Lansinoh can be used for other reasons such as minor burns, eczema and itchy or sore skin conditions.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
Apply a thin layer to the nipple area. Lansinoh absorbs slightly but provides a protective layer that will help your sore skin to heal. You do not need to wash it off before breast feeding because there are no chemicals in the ointment so it's safe for your baby.
IS IT EFFECTIVE
I have breast fed three babies so know how to position for feeding to cause the least discomfort for me. When you first start to breast feed your nipples are put under a lot of extra pressure and Lansinoh helps greatly. As soon as I apply it my skin starts to feel better and the shooting pains across my nipple area are soothed instantly. Using the ointment regularly softens the skin on my nipples and makes them less prone to cracking.
WHAT I THINK
It took me quite a long time to get used to the thick greasy ointment because it doesn't feel very nice to start with. As soon as I felt the improvement in my comfort during and after breast feeding though I carried on using it and now don't mind the feel of it. I like that it lessens my pain straight away and my baby daughter has never moved her mouth away from my breast so there can't be any taste to the ointment.
I've used Lansinoh when my nipples are already suffering from cracked and soreness and also to prevent this happening. I think it works better as a preventative ointment because that stops you having pain to start with but if you notice those tell take cracks in your nipples or start experiencing pain or stinging then applying Lansinoh in a thicker layer than usual will help.
A 56g tube of Lansinoh costs about £10 but you only have to use a very small amount so the tube will last for over a month. I think the price is reasonable for the relief it provides but others argue that it's expensive.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
