      Very handy if used correctly

Lindam microwave steriliser bags are a handy travel item to take with you when out and about visiting friends or off on your holidays. As long as there is a microwave you can have access to, these little bags can be put to work and are able to sterilise up to 2 very slim sized baby bottles at a time (depending on the width and size of bottle used). We have paid just £4.99 for a pack of 3 of the Lindam microwave steriliser bags which come in a simple box which shows the product and highlights about what it can do. When you work out that each Lindam microwave steriliser bag can be used up to 20 times, that means you can potentially use the bags up to 60 times in total. This does depend on how the bag fairs with each use mind you. ********************************************************** The Lindam microwave steriliser bags are simple and quick to use and can work in microwaves from 500 watts to 1000 watts. All you need to do is wash and prepare your baby bottles, teats and lids. Then when ready place them into the bag along with 70mls of water. We have found that with fatter shaped bottles such as the Avent or Tommee Tippee ones, you can only get 1 of the larger 9oz bottles in the bag, although the instructions clearly say you can fit 2. We did find you can fit in 2 slimmer smaller/ shorter bottles. We found just putting in 1 bottle a bit wasteful as each bag can be used only once, so we sometimes used the small amount of space left to also sterilise feeding and mixing spoons at the same time. ********************************************************** The product is very simple to use and the thing we liked about it was the fact that the instructions for use are clearly written on the bags themselves. This means that you always have the instructions to hand and do not need to faff about keeping the original box etc. Everything you need to know to be able to use the bag is written on it. It shows you where the exhaust drain is, tells you how many items you can place into the bag, reminds you to safely close the bag prior to use, cautions you to put the bag in the right way up (handle strip way up). It evens tells you how much water to use. ********************************************************* There are also markings on the bag which are waiting for you to mark off with a permanent marker how many times each bag has been used. You just place a tick or a cross in the empty circle each time you use the bag and it reminds you how many times each bag can still be used. This is very handy indeed and takes away any of the guesswork you would have to do otherwise, as each bag can only be used 20 times. The top part of each bag has a strip placed for you to be able to pick up the bag after its been in the microwave for the allotted 3 minutes. We found this to be of use, as it means you are not in contact with the rest of the bag, which gets extremely hot and full of hot water/ steam. The handle can save you from exposure to the hot bag and this to me makes the product even better as its been made with thought about what happens when you need to take the bag out of the microwave. ********************************************************* One thing that you really do need to be careful of is trying to open a bag too soon after its been into the microwave for its 3 minute cooking time. We found that the bags were full of very hot steam and were best left to cool for at least 10 minutes before attempting to open them. You should also make sure you use a small towel, clean towelling nappy or cloth to cover the bag when taking it out of the microwave as this will prevent any possible burns or scalds. Never open the bag till the remainder of the water has been drained out via the exhaust drain. ********************************************************** To sum up the Lindam microwave steriliser bags I would have to say that for overnight stays or holidays with friends and family these are very useful. If you are staying away and will have access to a microwave these do mostly work well. You must always follow the instructions on the bag and never put in less water than is stated. We found that we couldn't fit 2 of any of the larger sized bottles into one bag no matter how we tried. This is something to think about when working out how many bags you may need to buy for stays away from home. The bags are very simple to use and do work as they say but sometimes do not last the whole 20 times they should. They can and do get very hot and you need to be careful with them. ********************************************************** To give these a rating I feel they ought to get 4 stars as they are very portable and easy to use. They drop a star as they cannot fit 2 larger bottles in no matter how you try and this can mean that if you favour the larger bottles you will end up needing more bags. They also can and do fail prior to their 20th use at times. Other than that the product is very handy and works well. Its worth checking out if you are in need of an easy solution when away and cannot take a full sized steriliser unit with you.

The travel must have for bottle fed babies

These are a Fab little creation. For all mums out there with babies who are bottle fed sterilising is an essential part of your daily routine.Sterilising can be awkward though when going on holiday or out and about visiting friends. When you are at home you have a sterilising unit but when on your travels the last thing you want to do it drag it along with you ....This is where these strerilisation bags come into play. We often go and stay at my parents and with having my young son who is soley bottle fed i need to have sterile bottles handy. I was in Boots grabbing some dummies and noticed these down the same aisle so i had a look at them and thought excellent exactly what i needed a product that is small, lightweight but yet perfroms the same task as my streiliser at home. They are made by Lindam a reputable name in baby safety products so a trusted name to me.The pack contains 3 bags for the price of £4.99 even though after purchasing them for that price i have seen them in wilkinsons for only £3.99.Each bag can be used up to 20 times and on the front of each bag there are numbers running from 1 to 20 and you can mark the bag with a biro to show how many remianing uses are left. Each bag can hold 2 bottles at a time and its accessories.I have read on other reviews that they are not good for wide neck bottles but i have the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles which are probably the widest bottles out there and mine go in just fine. The bags arevery easy to use all you do is wash your bottles as normal, then add 70ml of water to the strerilising bag and place in your bottles and teats as shown on the diagram on the bag.The bottle has to be facing a certain way.You then simply pop them into the microwave for 3 minutes. When taking them out you simply pour the water out of the end of the bag with the spout. Also with the spout/valve for the water to come out you have miimum risk of getting burnt by the steam. The bottles after this are ready to be filled up as necessary and for you to feed your baby with. These are so quick and easy to use that anyone who doesnt even usually sterilise bottles could follow the instructions ie, ideal to leave at nanny & grandads house for when the little darlings go to stay...lol I think these are a excellent item and i couldnt and wouldnt be without them knowing that they exist.Ideal for holidays and travelling and very simple to use. What more can you ask for ??

        Disadvantages

Bought for holiday (where the microwage stated in the brochure did not exist so these were useless) I have used these extensively when travelling. They are quick and easy to use. Just wash your bottle as usual, rinse, put 70 ml of water in bag, put bottles in bag, seal, microwave for 3 minutes. I use wide necked bottle and there is no way you canfirt 2 whole bottles in (believe me I have tried every possible permutation of bottle ring, teat and cap) Apart from the fact that this obviously means youonly get half the bottles sterilised that you would if you had slim bottles, these are the best. After each use you mark the front of the bag to ensure you dont use them more than 20 times and its quite difficult to make a mark that stays on after sterilisation.

what a wonderful idea. this is a bag that can take 2 bottles with caps tops and teats and with 70 ml of water 3 mins in the microwave and you have sterilised bottles. a wonderful and easy way to go on holiday. the bags a reusable for up to 20 times and they have numbers on the side so you can x them off as you go. when finished in the microwave you pour away the water from the "exhaust" area and then dry bag for use next time. So much easier for travelling than dragging around steriliser tablets etc.. they come in bags of 3 for £4.99 so hardly more expensive the only "downside" is obviously that you need to know that there will be a microwave at the end of your destination.
