Advantages: Easy to use, Saves getting up in the night, Easy to clean

Disadvantages: Sometimes doesn't heat bottles enough

When I first bought this product I was jokingly called a lazy so and so, but as a first time mum I've found it an invaluable bit of kit.

The system comprises of a base unit and separate cool pack (with freezer block) which slots into the base when you use it. It's neat and tidy and isn't too big to take all the room on your bedside table. I'm able to have the unit, a lamp and my book (yep I still get the chance to read - sometimes) on there with room to spare for any other necessaries (Infacol, bib etc). The base unit has a built in night light/bottle stand which I found useful as somewhere to keep the bottle lid but not much use as a light to be able to see what you're doing. You also get a small water holder to keep the right measures of water needed to heat the bottles which stores neatly in the cooler pack with the freezer block and your bottles. Handy so you don't end up trying to guess the right amount needed.

There is room for two bottles to be kept cool and I found this to be enough for night time feeds with my son but it may be a problem if your baby requires more than two feeds during the night! The system is capable of heating both wide neck and narrow neck bottles by means of an 'adaptor' (a small ring that fits over the top of the heating element); though I found the narrow neck bottles didn't seem to heat as well as the wide neck ones. Luckily though my son prefers the wide neck bottles anyway - phew!

The bottles are heated by steam fairly quickly (between 5-7 minutes depending on size of feed) and although this may seem like an eternity when your little one is screaming at 3.00 o'clock in the morning consider how long it would take to get up, go downstairs, boil the kettle and then heat the bottle up! So 7 minutes isn't so bad after all!

The only real gripe I have is that sometimes (and I'm at a loss as to why it happens) is that the bottles are not heated enough; ind
eed it sometimes seems it is not warm at all. However this only happens now and again and even going through the full process again is better than getting up to boil the kettle!

I bought it for £29.99 from Argos and from what I've seen it's available from almost all baby care and home shops. At first glance it may seem a bit steep for what it is - I mean all it does is keep bottles cool then heat them - but for me it's an absolutely fundamental piece of equipment.

I think I would buy one of these too when I have kids! I would have liked to have heard a little more about how it works. For example, you say it heats using steam, but is there a timer on it to stop you heating too much, how does it cool the milk down etc.

Hope you enjoy the site - don't forget to rate everything you read here too an have fun!
