The Maclaren duette was everything I wanted from a double buggy. I had my first two kids 19 months apart and the oldest wasn't even walking!!! I needed a buggy which had independent seats which could be laid flat so that it was suitable for my newborn. It had to be as lightweight as possible 'cos two kids are heavy enough! It also had to be umbrella folding and as compact as possible to make it easy to lift in and out of the car. I have recently purchased a second hand maclaren duet buggy.This is the second double buggy I have had ,the first was a buggy which had one child sitting in front of the other which had many disadvantages. 1. The child in the front usually the bigger could see everything and the smaller child in the rear could not. 2. The child in front is usually the heavier of the 2 and this is no help in getting you up and down curbs 3. The weight of the buggy means theat even if you are tall strong and fairly fit unless you are an amazon pushing the buggy up a hill or over curbs is impossible without injuring your back and needing to see the phsyio but ... I use the McLaren duette to take my nephew and niece out (aged 10 months and 20 months) when I look after them. Both children are comfortable in it and both love sitting next to each other. I would recommend it much more than a twin pushchair where the children sit behind each other as both have plenty of foot room and both can see all around them. Although this pushchair is heavy compared to a single, it is very easy and manoverable to push and fits through virtually every normal doorway.
