Advantages: Well it was a good idea

Disadvantages: Doesn't fit the dummy

I recently bought one of these for my 9-month old baby, who is very keen on his dummy and can't quite manage to find it for himself, particularly not at night.

The packaging says that it fits ALL soothers so I thought we'd be ok - my son uses a Tommee Tippee clear dummy and won't have any other sort. Well, it does fit but its not easy! You have to push the soft plastic ring through the loop on the dummy, and then push the plastic clip through the ring so that you've made a loop with the dummy on it. This is quite hard to do with the Tommee Tippee dummy, and leaves a large loop of cord/plastic on the dummy on the baby's face.

The clip end is a y-shaped piece of plastic with a slider that moves up and down to open or close the clip. So it fits neatly on to the edge of a piece of clothing but is difficult to fit to the front of a t-shirt etc.

And the instructions advise that you shouldn't use it at night, which is fair enough I suppose. Also, if you do use it at night, where do you clip it? How do you know whether your baby will choose to sleep on his front or back that night?

Oh well, back to strewing the cot with dummies!

Summary: Probably good it you use MAM dummies
