Advantages: thin, soft and absorbent
Disadvantages: None
Although I have chosen to bottle feed rather than breast feed, it doesn't exclude me from the need to use breast or nursing pads for a while after the birth of my daughter, and specifically after the third day when my 'milk came in'. I have already wrote a review on another sample pack of nursing pads from Lansinoh, but I had also bought a pack of these Mothercase Ultra Thin Breast Pads, which cost £4.99 for a pack of 40. Since this pack supports Breast Cancer Research the box itself is pink in colour and carries the emblem of this charity.
These ultra thin breast pads are designed to be 'soft, perfectly shaped and ultra absorbent' in order to keep the area clean and fresh. These pads are not only created for those breastfeeding, but can be worn in the late stages of pregnancy if necessary, or by those bottlefeeding for as long as required. If you are breastfeeding, there is advice on the side of the pack stating that you will, on average, require a 100 pads during the first week, and by week 4 you may need 80 pads a week.
One of the features of these pads are that they are individually wrapped in order to promote freshness. They are also designed to be disposable which is obviously handy and more hygenic. Each pad also comes with a 'full length adhesive strip' to ensure the pad will stay in place for as long as possible. As well as being disposable, these pads are also breathable and come with a waterproof backing. The pads are supposed to be absorbent to trap 'excess milk' and keep it locked in, so you feel as comfortable as possible.
I have been using these pads for well over a week now, and I have been very impressed. They are very easy to attach to your bra, and they are large enough to adequately fit most sizes. The fact that they are ultra thin also helps them be discreet within your underwear which is obviously an advantage. In addition, I do find them to be very soft against my skin, so much so that I have forgotten at times to change them as often as I should since I forget that they are even there. Most importantly however they are absorbent. Never once sine wearing these has any milk leaked out onto my bra or outside of the pad, since they are both big enough and absorbent enough to contain all leakage.
All in all, I have been very pleased with these pads, and although I am getting to the stage that I won't be needing these much longer, I would certainly buy these again if the time was ever to come around again.
Summary: A reliable and comfortable nursing pad
