Advantages: Convenient, comfortable and they keep me and my clothes dry.
Disadvantages: There not free. You also need to be careful of what colours you wear!!!!!
I'm currently breast feeding my second child, she just over 7 months now and doing great. I decided to breast feed her way before I gave birth as I'd breast fed my son with great success. One of the first things you learn when you breast feed your child is the need for protection! By that I mean some form of pad that will catch the excess milk flow. There's nothing worse than being out shopping or going for a stroll and suddenly realising you have become a human sprinkler system. Covered in milk and no-where to hide. I've tried all the brands you care to think of but these are tops for me! Gold tops that is, lol. PRICE Vs BRAND ;'-;'-;'-;'-;'-;'-; 9;-';';';'; I always shop around for everything and breast pads are no different. Price is obviously a deciding factor when considering which brand your going to choose. 40 mothercare disposable breast pads = £2.50 100 mothercare disposable breast pads = £4.50 You will probably find the boxes of 100 are nearly always on special offer. Buy two and get a third free. Which is fab as it makes these the most affordable ones I've found. All the brands I've tried have been excellent at the job they are intended for but they are seldom on offer. Johnsons do 30 for £2.99 Boots do 40 for £3.25 Tesco do 40 for £2.29 and 80 for £3.99 and I can recommend these if you can't get to a branch of mothercare but I have never seen these on offer otherwise I would buy mine from here as it would be more convenient for me as I do my weekly shop online! I have to say that I find no difference between the brands in terms of absorbancy and comfort so Mothercare wins my custom simply because of the offers available. AVAILABILITY ;'-;'-;'-;'-;'-;'-; 9;;';';' Well I think most of you have gathered t
hat these are in fact Mothercare breast pa ds so you'll find them in any Mothercare store, lol. You can also buy them from their web site. www.mothercare.co.uk but you'll have to pay the postage and packing price! You could always check out the web site and see if there's a store near you! PACKAGING ;'-;'-;'-;'-;';';' ;';' Well if you're buying a box of 100 you better expect a pretty big box, lol. I did consider using the title "I've got a big box" but I thought a few members would think I was being rude so I stuck to the title above, lol. The box is a subtle shade of lilac and has a picture of a pregnant woman on the front and information on the product on the back. Its nothing startling but then it's a practical product so I prefer the subtle approach. WHAT THEY'RE MADE OF ;'-;'-;'-;'-;'-;'-; 9;-;'-;'-;'-;'-; ';';'; Made from highly absorbant, non chlorine, environmentally friendly bleached cellulose (I'm sure its cotton wool) With moisture proof backing and soft a soft lining covering the front of the pad. MY VERDICT ';';';';';';';' ;;';';'; Absorbance Test = These are excellent. I generally change my pads at least every feeding time and if I have leaked a bit or a lot these do tend stop milk leaking onto my clothes. If you have a lot of excess milk then you may need to change between feeds too so it can work out expensive using disposables. Make sure you carry a few in your bag when your out and about and avoid those milky moments and be prepared. Shape and fit = A circular shaped pad (there's a surprise) and they fit comfortably over your nipple area with about an inch to spare all the way around. They have a smooth surface so they don't look obviou
s when your dressed but be careful about which colours you wear (more on that in the next secti on). Comfort and appearance under clothes = Well I have to say these are very comfortable, they have a ultra soft lining so they don't scratch or irritate your nipple area at all. They also have a moisture proof backing so you don't have to worry to much about milk leaking through. As for appearance, well if you like dark coloured tops or blouse's then you're fine but if like me you like to wear something a bit brighter when the suns out, then beware!! I find if I wear any pale colour especially white then you can see these a mile away. I have had one embarrassing moment wearing these. I had arranged to meet my sister for coffee and as I was walking towards her in the coffee shop she suddenly curled up into fits of laughter. Apparently it was all you could notice through my thin white shirt so no more pale colours for me for a while. The most embarrassing thing is, I must have walked about like that dozens of times and no-one said a word!! Environmentally Friendly = Well the box has informed me that these are in fact environmentally friendly. Here's exactly what is written on the box - Caring for the environment. In making this product a modified bleaching procedure has been used which significantly reduces the environmental hazards normally produced by waste during the pulp production process. So now I don't feel so bad about being a totally lazy tw*t and not wanting to buy re-usable pads which I would have to wash by hand. So they are very convenient too. Anything to keep my washing pile to a minimum! If you're pregnant and you're thinking of breast feeding your child then I highly recommend these and I give them a full *****star rating. I just couldn't do with out them. Well that's all the info I can think of so if I've missed anything or if y
ou want to ask me a question, then please feel free to leave a comment and ask away :O)) The price I've placed below is for 100 disposable breast pads!
