      Mothercare newborn bibs

Bibs, bibs and more bibs - even if you choose to breastfeed rather than bottle feed I have found that you will still need a good selection of bibs to hand. At the moment in our house bibs are invaluable for mopping up baby drool and baby spit up. My lovely little daughter has just started teething and with teething comes drool - who knew that it could be like a tap? I was trying to mop up her chin, cheeks, neck, clothes, etc with a muslin but I found that her clothes where still getting damp and that her neck creases where getting red and sore from constantly being wet. However, I have found that using a bib has helped keep her clothes drier and makes for easier mop up without having to constantly hunt for the last place I put the muslin cloth down in.

So last time I was in Mothercare I picked up a packet of three brightly coloured bibs. My daughter is still on the petite size so I opted for the Mothercare newborn bibs that are a perfect fit even at four months and I suspect they will be a good fit for a while yet. The bibs that I own are made from a lovely and soft jersey fabric with an absorbent towelling back, which really does make them ideal to mop up any extra milk, spit up or drool. They also fasten using a small Velcro strip and are really easy to pop on and off.

A packet of three bibs cost around £6 and I really do think that for £2 a bib they are a bargain because we pretty much use the bibs constantly. Mothercare also offer a selection of patterns, colours and designs that you can choose from. In my opinion some are nicer than others but everyone's taste is different.

There really isn't a whole lot more to say about the Mothercare newborn bibs, they are an absorbent, soft and nice bib that washes well and does exactly what you would expect from a bib. Personally I feel like the bibs deserve the full five out of five stars and I can imagine that these bibs will out last my daughters use for them and I will either pass them along or store them for the next baby. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the bibs and I would happily buy more bibs from Mothercare in the future.

        Good enough bib

These newborn bibs from Mothercare are simple to use and can be bought in a pack of ten so you have enough to get you through a few days, I'm rather fortunate as I was given a pack as part of a sort of gift box and had already bought a set for myself so I have twenty of them floating about between baby bags, drawers and washing piles.

They are all the same colour, white and cost a penny under £5 so that works out at 50p each. What I like is that they are very effective at mopping up any dribbles or attempts by my daughter to recycle her milk despite the fact that they are quite thin. They do not cope so well with major spillages though but they are not designed for such things really. They have a soft feel to them as well which I liked.

They have a small velcro fastening around the neck which at first I wondered whether it would stay secure but so far that has proven to be the case and they fit comfortably around my daughters neck and do not cause any irritation.

They have a plastic backing and a poly cotton mix for the material and are machine washable and stay soft after a few washes which is a good thing. As you would expect with a white bib there is a small amount of colour change with them, a couple are not quite the bright dazzling white that they were when they came out of the packet but these are the ones I keep back for home use.

Certainly worth having these ones and they are pretty good value for money given the price.

A good value pack of bibs

After having suggested a 10 pack of Mothercare Newborn Bibs that we used, as a product, I was referred to this product listing by DooYoo. So although the listing here doesn't mention there being 10 bibs, the bibs I intend to discuss are the newborn variety and look just like these do. DoYoo feel its in the right place, so here goes.

When we were looking for newborn bibs we found that the 10 pack of Mothercare Newborn Bibs we saw were very good value. As it turned out our child did suffer with reflux in the early months, so bibs and burp cloths were a must. To be able to buy a 10 pack of all white bibs for the money we paid was a very good deal, as it meant we had plenty of everyday home use, non fancy new born bibs for a small spend.

        **********************************************************
As a simple set of 10 bibs that are in reality a bulk buy for the first few weeks / months or so, the Mothercare Newborn Bibs 10 Pack were a great little buy. At £4.99 of the full 10 bibs, it works out at just 49.9p per bib. We felt that was a great price per bib for a home use quality bib.

When I consider just how many bibs we tended to end up going through, as feeding was very regular and reflux was an issue, these worked out as a complete and utter bargain. They are small and easy to fit around your childs neck and attach with a simple velcro fastening. They don't seem to be all that snug around the neck or too tight fitting, so some leaks do occur in that area at times.

        *********************************************************
The Mothercare Newborn Bibs 10 Pack are very simple to care for as they are made of a simple cotton and polyester mix, which can be washed in the machine. There is a Peva plastic backing so the bibs are water proof to an extent, although we did have to supplement them at times with a burp cloth.

We found the bibs covered the main chest and mid body area well enough and we avoided too many spills and leaks as long as we always used a bib. As we had to wash and use between 7 to 8 of these a day in the beginning, they were worked very hard. Even so, they washed and wore very well and stayed fairly white in spite of the punishment they went through.

        **********************************************************
The Mothercare Newborn Bibs 10 Pack we bought were in a nice clean looking white when we bought them, they remained pretty white looking throughout their use. They were easy to wash and care for and did absorb some, if not all milk spills. They were made of durable materials and stood up to repeated usage.

We did have to supplement their usage with the Mothercare Burp Cloths, but that was something we expected we would have to do. I don't feel this was due to the bibs being at fault at all, as they are designed for light spills not tidal waves. To rate them I feel they ought to get 4 stars, as they are cheap to buy, easy to care for and they work well.

Well, I suppose a bib is a bib is a bib, but it is nice to be able to get them in tiny sizes too. My little one was very small and very sicky, and these newborn size were much more practical for her (better than letting her get filthy at every feed!). This would be a useful item to add to the list of necessities for first-timers. And if that's you, then I wish you all the best and enjoy your little one and your messy-time
