Advantages: Cheap and effective for light spills

Disadvantages: Does not cope with full scale vomit

These newborn bibs from Mothercare are simple to use and can be bought in a pack of ten so you have enough to get you through a few days, I'm rather fortunate as I was given a pack as part of a sort of gift box and had already bought a set for myself so I have twenty of them floating about between baby bags, drawers and washing piles.

They are all the same colour, white and cost a penny under £5 so that works out at 50p each. What I like is that they are very effective at mopping up any dribbles or attempts by my daughter to recycle her milk despite the fact that they are quite thin. They do not cope so well with major spillages though but they are not designed for such things really. They have a soft feel to them as well which I liked.

They have a small velcro fastening around the neck which at first I wondered whether it would stay secure but so far that has proven to be the case and they fit comfortably around my daughters neck and do not cause any irritation.

They have a plastic backing and a poly cotton mix for the material and are machine washable and stay soft after a few washes which is a good thing. As you would expect with a white bib there is a small amount of colour change with them, a couple are not quite the bright dazzling white that they were when they came out of the packet but these are the ones I keep back for home use.

Certainly worth having these ones and they are pretty good value for money given the price.

Summary: Good enough bib
