Advantages: Economical,quick,easy

Disadvantages: bottles get hot so leave a few mins to cool down

Having used a solution steriliser for my first child I decided to try a steam steriliser for my second.

My reasons for this were that I couldtn see that it would be anymore tiresome and annoying than the other one. With a soltion sterliser you have to make sure that you constantly have enough solution, it will be useless without it if you run out.

Also you have to constantly change the water and the bottles have to be in for at least 1 hour to be sterilsed. I always foundthat the bottles smelt rather tainted also fromt he solution. I used to wonder if my baby could taste that too.!

So off we went to find a suitable sterilser and we went to mothercare world!!( they were good at soemthing LOL >>see othr opinion on Mothercare world<<) The sterilsers were all set out together and thier was a chart to show you how much the weekly cost of each sterilser would be. Although these were all in the "pence" margin. The Mothercare Steam Steriliser workded out the cheapest to run although it was £24.99 to the bog standard £12.00 for the solution one.

You dont get any extras with the steriliser such as bottles like you do with some others, and you could only fit 4 bottles in at a time! (although you could buy a dearer one that would fit 6 bottles)
Also as your child gets slightly older if you still prefer to sterilise cups you will find it hard to fit them in and some may not be suitable for steam sterilising.

ok, they were the bad points, now the good. I have never looked back on buying this and it was well worth paying the extra. All you have to do is put about 75ml of water in the steriliser, press a button and leave it for 8 minutes!! It really is that simple.

When you are ready to do some more you just empty the remainder water out and refill again. you never have to worry about running out of solution, there is no taint left on the bottles and its so quick!

Certainly worth paying that bit ex
tra!
