Advantages: So Easy to use, Fantastic Value

Disadvantages: Dodgy plastic tongs

Having been away from Dooyoo for a wee while and after just going through a life changing experience with the birth of my first child I thought I would return and write an op or 2 based on my experiences of new baby products.

My partner and I have been going through a bit a rough time recently with feeding our daughter. It seemed that “boobie-juice” was just not hitting the mark ! We were advised by our health visitor to try combined breast and bottle feeding. Do a “boobie” feed and then follow this up with a bottle feed of formula.

Confused by the world of bottles and sterilisers I was a tad confused. Until, I had a closer look at a present my mother had bought for us. This was a pair of Mothercare Microwave Steriliser Baby feeding bottles. So impressed, I went and bought 6 more for £20-00.

What are they and how do they work you ask ?

Well, these bottles are absolutely fantastic. They take just a few minutes to clean and just a few minutes to make safe so that the time you save is priceless. You just give them a wash in a soapy washing up type solution. Swill them out. Build them, for this I did need to read the instructions. Basically, you have the cap – turn it upside down and pour in about 10mm of cold water. There is an indicator mark to make this easier. You then pop in the bit of the bottle that you use to screw the teat onto the bottle. Pop in the teat, which is a wide “slo-flo” action teat. (Good at avoiding colic and wind.) Put on the small clamp that comes with the set. Then attach the bit of the bottle that you would actually put the drink in.

Basically, you’ve got an upside down bottle. You then put it in a microwave with a power range between 400-1000 watts and run your microwave for 1.5 mins for one bottle. If you have 2 bottles then it’s 2.5 mins, 3 bottles then it’s 3.5 mins and so on. You can do upto 6 bottles at anyone time.

After yo
ur microwave has nuked them – (they do get a bit hot!) You need to leave them stand for at least 2 mins to let them cool down before your use them to make your baby’s drink up. They are at this stage far too hot to give to baba!

The microwave nukes all the germs in a matter of minutes! No more strange concoctions where you need to soak for hours. Just wash them swill them build them and zap in the nukeray!

The bottles have markings showing you how much water to use to make your feed and they even have markings on the side showing the timings needed to microwave upto 6 bottles.

A fantastic product that is fantastic value for money. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
