Learning should be fun. Make learning fun and your child will not realise they are working but think they are playing.
I was fortunate to go into the local save the children charity shop and looking at their used toys notice a pack of my first number snap cards. Made by, the green board game company. This game cost me 20 p but when I look on line I see it new for £4.00 and at Amazon from £1.99p.
Maths yes that dreaded word, A baby begins to learn maths from am early age hearing parents count so becoming familiar with number names. I am sure we have all played round and round the garden like a teddy bear one step two step with our tiny babies, and one two three four five once I caught a fish alive. I am sure there are songs and games similar in all languages and cultures.
As our children go we develop number games with them and as they are able to sit and to play games with cards and boards we buy them /or make then to assist our children’s learning and playing. These Number snap cards are suitable for a child aged 3 and over.
Cards can help a childs recognition and understanding of letters, symbols, and numbers.
Snap is a game I can remember playing from a young age. When I saw this pack of cards I thought it ideal for a first number snap game.
This pack of cards is a standard size pack not super sized. It has 52 cards in it the cards are the thickness of an ordinary pack of cards.
The back of each card is a bright yellow with a splat of red colour central with the words my first number snap written on it.
O n the other side of the card are the numbers for the game. Ten cards in the pack have the number written in red on it the letters are about ½inch/1 cm tall. Ten of the cards have the numerals printed on them also in red. These are bigger at 1, 1/2inches 4 cm. Then there are cards are pictures of 1 to ten apples, kites, or bees.
The pictures are bold and colourful.
Your child could just play with these cards on his/her own matching /pairing the nubers and the pictures or they could play a game with you or another child . Playing with someone else encourages social skill learning to share and to take turns , learning the joy of winning and how to manage the disappointment of losing . Playing games will help their concentration skills
Your children can either play snap or pairs with these cards or you could play a game of sequencing the numbers.

The best way to teach these games is by example play along with your child explain the rules simply first then show and teaching them the game as you go along.
