Nursery Time Velcro Bib
Advantages: Very cute
Disadvantages: noise in ear
When my baby was born I thought I was prepared and had everything I needed but I had forgotten about bibs and so I found myself online at some ridiuclous time in the morning when she was just a few days old ordering this set of bibs. They have been very well used and definitely worth every penny!
What do they look like?
These bibs are super cute! Hope may be a girl but I don't have any issues with her wearing blue or having blue blankets and things. In fact, her very first outfit in the hospital was a blue baby grow. These bibs are baby blue and so probably aimed more at boys than girls but it didn't stop me from buying them for my daughter and thinking how cute they were!
They are white with baby blue hem all the way round. They each have a little picture in the middle, again these pictures probably being more aimed at boys than girls. There is a puppy's face, a monster and the words "daddy's little monster" next to it and two little elephants with the words "hurry up little one" written below them.
These bibs are ideal first bibs as they are made from cotton (65%) and polyester (35%). They don't have any plastic backs to them like bibs which are more suitable for older babies so these are ideal for newborns. They are very soft to touch and so very gentle against your baby's skin.
Using the bibs
These bibs are secured in place by using velcro. This makes life easier than the old fashioned style bibs that use ribbon to tie behind their heads or the bibs which you have to lift over your baby's head which can unsettle a baby or make it quite a messy procedure! Instead these bibs are easy to put on and take off. I think the only problem with the velcro is that if your baby has fallen asleep whilst wearing the bib and you remove it, the sound of the velco by your baby's ear can wake them up!
The bibs themselves are quite small so really only suitable for young babies. Once they get older bigger bibs are better as they cover more! These bibs are very absorbant though and seemed to mop up any little dribbles we had.
To wash them you simply put them in with your normal washing and wash at 40 degrees. I found that the majority of stains came out of these bibs and they didn't lose their shape or quality. Over time the whiteness of them faded a bit as you would expect from any white items I suppose.
These were great bibs for my baby when she was a newborn. Once she got a bit older though they weren't as good as they simply weren't big enough. The fit around the neck was good, they were never too tight, nor were they dangling round too loose so they were well designed.
The pictures on the bibs are very cute and I don't think it matters whether they are for girls or boys as they are blue but there's nothing more than that to suggest they're designed for boys really.
I bought them from kiddicare for £2.49 for the pack of 3 and I really can't complain. I have used them frequently for mopping up spilt milk and dribble and they have always been very practical and worked well. I definitely think that they were worth the money as they worked, were easy to use and look cute too!
The only criticism I have is that the velcro noise in Hope's ear did often wake her up but aside from that I have no complaints! They're cute!
