Pegasus Landrover All Terrain Pushchair As the name suggests, a real “Go anywhere” pushchair, which is fully endorsed by Landrover. Designed for babies from about 5-6 months to large toddler. Costing around £400 complete(not including carrycot or pushchair bag) We bought our Landrover pushchair three and a half years ago, almost before the trend for them had begun. I had studied several versions and finally decided as the factory was only 20 miles from my home to give the Landrover a try. As I had purchased one of the earliest versions, I would like to add now, that some of the designs and features on the new model vary slightly from mine. Friends who followed my recommendation have been more than satisfied with the newer models. I would happily upgrade to the newer model, bar the fact that mine is still in such great condition after three years, two children, a few thousand miles and lots of shopping! I would add that we are farmers, and “off roading ” it over ploughed fields is the norm. When I say that this pushchair will go anywhere I really do mean it. The pushchair is light and easily manoeuvrable, it has a soft touch handle cover, easily accessible brakes and pump up tyres, the hard wearing washable seat cover is fixed in a semi reclined position which poppers and Velcro s on to the frame, the seat features a 5 point harness and anchorage points, (The pushchair is suitable from about 5-6 months ) for little babies the seat may be removed and a carrycot fitted which is available as an additional extra.(Suitable from birth to about 6 months) The carrycot costing approx £50 (we managed to buy a secondhand one fits on all of the versions of the Landrover),is also fitted with anchorage straps, and supplied with a good mattress, is not able to be used as a stand alone unit, however when fitted to the pushchair provides a snug and safe environment for your child and allows a considerable a
mount of freedom unavailable with conventional prams or pushchair combi’s. There is no carrycot cover, but the rain cover provides more than adequate protection even on the windiest days, where the sun canopy can be adjusted to shade the majority of the pram in warmer weather. A run away strap is also included in the price as are the rain covers, sun canopy and shopping basket. Not only was the concept of three chunky 10inch pneumatic wheels brilliant, it provided far more stability than conventional pushchairs, along with a far smoother ride for baby. All wheels are quickly and easily removable, the front with butterfly nuts, and rear with quick release hubs. I have not had any punctures yet!!. The footrest on mine is metal, though I do know that this is one thing that has changed on the newer models, the newer models incorporate a mudguard on the plastic footrest now supplied on the buggy. In my opinion, not one of their better ideas!! The frame is guaranteed for my lifetime, the seat, wheels and extras are guaranteed for a year, but three years and several washes later, my seat is as good as the day I bought it. I wash the cover on a very cool wash in the machine, and allow it to drip dry, so far with no ill effects. The pushchair is easily assembled and disassembled, and once folded is fairly long, it will easily fit into the boot of most small cars we managed to fit it into a Micra, tight squeeze, but it did fit, minus wheels, I would recommend that you tried it in the boot of your car before you buy. Folded it is almost completely flat apart from the foot plate .The rain cover and/or sun canopy can remain fitted when the pushchair is folded, however the carrycot may not remain in situ. On the downside, there is no clip or strap to keep the pushchair closed when folded. Pegasus also sell a pushchair bag, which although a little extravagant, is a great idea, however the cost for me does not out we
igh the benefit of having a clean boot of the car, with 4 children, that is almost impossible, but a carrier bag for dirty wheels is essential. Also available to order, at your own specifications are larger pushchairs for special needs children and doubles, these however are not sold under the Landrover trademark, but are made by the same company, using the same components, simply in different colours with slightly varying modifications. If you have many miles to walk, or need a pushchair that really does go anywhere, I would buy the Landrover, which is more expensive than many other inferior pushchairs, but the quality and durability shines through. With my eldest children we bought no less than 5 pushchairs or buggies, all of which were quickly destroyed by the type of uses that they had to endure costing a small fortune, whereas I have bought one pushchair for the little ones, and I am really more than satisfied that the Landrover will not only be completely useable and safe for my youngest daughter, it will be just as safe and secure for any subsequent children that will use it. These items are worth buying second hand, if you can persuade the present owner to sell.(Highly unlikely unless they have finished their family!!)

- 07/10/00 If like your self You do proper 'off roading' Then it probably is worth spending more. My 'off-roading' is more forest tracks and grassy fields so I went for the Mothercare Summit at £130, it copes well with the terran I cover. As you mention the company make ATP's under another name and these are cheaper and basicly the same. My husband worked for Landrover and recons your paying more for the name. Worth finding out what other name they are sold under as £400 is a bit steep as you have to buy the hood, raincover and under seat basket seperatly. www.gltc.co.uk has them for £390 and doubles for £425. |
