“ Brand: Avent / Type: Breast Pump / Bottles & Accessories „
Going into mothercare when I was 5 months pregnant was the most daunting experience. How much stuff do we need?!
We went once a week during our pregnancy to grab the bits we needed and this particular week we needed bottle/breast feeding equipment.
When we saw how much stuff there was to get or did we need to get?! All different brands, shapes and equipment.
My husband then just pointed up to a shelf and said why not that one. This is perfect! It was Avent breast feeding kit at £120!
It was a big box and within was a electronic steam steriliser, bottle and food warmer, manual breast pump, 3 sealing discs, bottle brush, 3x 4oz and 3x 9oz bottles, breast milk container and 10 breast milk storage containers, 40 disposable breast pads, 6 washable breast pads, 30ml nipple soothing cream, 2 newborn soothers, measuring cup, 4 weaning spoons, tongs, bottle bag and a dvd guide!
What a bargain! I believe you can get these sets for around £80 now. If you bought these seperatley you would find it comes to a lot more than this!
The steriliser had a good size cable to it and fits pretty much the whole package. I put everything in it dummys, sealing discs well anything that needed sterilising.
The bottle warmer was a life saver for nights the only thing was to remember to switch it off otherwise the water evaporates and you end up with it being extremley dangerous. This is about 5 years old so whether they have one that turns itself off within 30 minutes? All you do is pop the bottle or food container in on a time and thats it! Make sure you always test the milk or food temperature before using.
These two items can get a buld up of limescale and its so simple to keep it clean. I think they even had some sachets that come with it but they didn't last long. I would say you need to do this at least once a week and you can buy them cheap at boots and get boots own.
The steriliser I kept in the kitchen away from baby as it gets so hot! The bottle warmer we had in the bedroom up high so just be careful where you put these.
I tried so hard to breast feed and would you believe it was the midwife that gave in! So when I got ome I tried to latch my baby on but by then she was used to a bottle and formula. I even tried manual pumping and what a joke that is! 30 minutes of elbow grease got me around 10ml of breast milk!
The pump is manual and was hard work and I believe I don't know of anyone that has luck with these? My wrist and even fingers hurt after 5 minutes and I do massages one after another! Its very easy to keep clean as I just rinsed the breast seals and then popped them in the steriliser.
I got a few little samples off avent products and I have to say they weren't bad. They smelt good and seem to of done the job, shame they weren't bigger!
So forrmula it was. This was still brilliant as I used the breast milk containers for her baby food. I still needed the steriliser and bottle warmer so this was an excellent buy.
I even lent this to all my friends to save them money and is still going strong!
Extremley happy with this buy thank you hubby :-) He got something right, lol!
I give this four stars as I didn't get on with the breast pump but don't let that put you of. Thank for reading and hope this has been of some use to you.
