Advantages: Absorbent, a good size, practical, soft, cute, very high quality
Disadvantages: Expensive full price
When we had our baby many people bought us bibs as a gift, some very cute and some more practical. We were given a few sets of bibs from Pumpkin Patch which I found ticked both of these boxes.
- The Bibs -
There are many different styles and patterns to choose from but the bibs are essentially all the same. They are made from 100% cotton and have a soft front with a cute colourful design. They have contrasting material around the edge and neck which finishes it off really nicely. They have a popper to do them up at the back of the neck. Some of our have two poppers so you can adjust the size which is really useful. The back is made from a very soft towelling material. They are a decent size which I found was perfect for a newborn up until around four months. One of our sets has a blue and green dinosaur theme while the other two sets have a bear theme featuring a bear in a submarine. Pumpkin Patch have lots of lovely designs to suit boys, girls or there are unisex options too. They are very cute and tasteful and the quality is immediately obvious.
- In Use -
We used these bibs frequently in those early days when spitting up was common. When you go somewhere nice or you are showing your new baby off to friends you want them to wear a very cute outfit. I was reluctant to cover these outfits with a bib but was also worried about the clothes becoming marked from sick. These bibs were ideal for these occasions because they were just as cute as the outfits! I loved how well the protected my son's clothes. They are absorbent, a good size, are soft and seem comfortable for the baby. The popper is easy enough to open and close and the neck size was perfect for a newborn up until around four months. I would recommend using larger and less cute bibs once you start to wean baby as these would quickly get ruined by food stains and wouldn't adequately protect clothes. They are best suited to protecting clothes from milk and sick.
- Cleaning -
These bibs are machine washable and always washed well for me, usually on a 40°C wash with similar colours. They can be tumble dried on low, although I always chose to dry them naturally which was fairly quick.
- Price and Availability -
These bibs are available from Pumpkin Patch shops or their website. The two packs cost between £4.50 and £8 depending on the designs. I think these are a little pricy for bibs but you have to bear in mind that they are very cute and of a high quality. They are a bit of a luxury item and for that reason I think they make a lovely gift. They are quite often on offer so it is worth looking out for sales and promotions.
- Would I Recommend? -
I would definitely recommend these bibs. Out of all the bibs we were given when my son was born these were my favourite. They are absorbent, a good size, practical, soft, cute, and very high quality. I can't fault them.
Summary: Cute and practical bibs for newborns
