When my eldest child was quite young she didn't like food shopping or being in the pushchair for any length of time. To keep her occupied I would take a small tupperware pot filled with snacks everywhere with us. Then at the first signs of boredom I would give her the snacks to keep the peace for a few more minutes.

The trouble with this method of snacking is that a young child can be quite clumsy or their hands are just too small to hold a tub and they invariably drop the tub and it's contents. This is so frustrating not just because you have to kick the snack under a freezer in the chiller section but also because it means you have nothing to occupy your now distraught child!

I had seen the Snack-Trap advertised in magazines like Mother and Baby and although I felt that they looked like the ideal solution I was not convinced that the Trap would be any use. I also felt that they were expensive as mine cost about £3.99 plus postage but that was four years ago now.

The snack trap is basically a two handled plastic cup with a lid. The lid is made of flexible plastic that is cut to make small flaps over the top of the cup. It is quite hard to explain but it works as the hand pushes into the top causing the flaps to part so you can get to the snack and then as you withdraw your hand the flaps close up again. This is also excellent when the Trap is dropped as the majority of it's contents stays inside. The trap can then simply be picked up and returned to the child.

It did take my daughter a little while to work out how to get the snacks out of the Snack-Trap but once she got the hang of it she wasn't fazed by the strange lid at all. I have used the Snack-Trap for all three of my children and it has been a lifesaver over the recent months. I have been attending Nativity Plays and Play School Christmas Parties and it keeps my one year old son occupied and means I don't have to leave just as Santa is dishing out the gifts because my son has had enough and is throwing a tantrum!

I would recommend only using the Snack-Trap for dry snacks such as cheerios, raisins, mini chedders and maybe chocolate buttons. I have put satsuma segments into mine but anything wetter would just leak and be very messy.

I am so glad I purchased one of these as it has saved me much stress and aggravation over the years. It is well worth the £4 I paid for it! I bought my Snack-Trap direct from the website www.snack-trap.co.uk who sell the Trap for £5.99 and this includes postage. They also sell snack-trap covers to stop the contents coming out in your bag and sippy cup lids to go on your Snack-Trap. I have also seen the Traps on www.amazon.co.uk for slightly less but postage is payable on these orders. I do not know if you can buy the accessories on Amazon.

I would recommend the snack trap to anyone who is struggling with a tupperware pot to keep their snacks in!
