Advantages: Well made
Disadvantages: Pricey
This cutlery set comes in different variations the main design remains the same but the small picture at the bottom of each piece can vary ours has little hands on then in different colours bright and attractive to little eyes. You receive a knife a fork and a spoon all about 14 cm in size and designed for toddler's hands.
I picked these up for around £8 a set in Tesco which I did think was a little pricey but you can tell the quality of them on first sight and I thought it would be a good investment it encouraged my little boy to eat more as he was going through a fussy stage and I was sure him having his own cutlery would make him more open to the idea of meal times.
They are made of stainless steel so resemble normal cutlery sets but just half the size and perfect for the hands of toddlers. This also means they last a lot longer than other Toddler sets you buy which tend to be made of plastic and not very hard wearing at all we have had these for 2 years now and they are still going strong.
Although on appearance the set looks rather chunky and as it is made from stainless steel it could be rather heavy they are surprisingly light and perfect for a little one to hold while still having a grown up appearance. The handles are curved which means it is easy for little one to get a good grip of the cutlery easily and again another appealing property for small children.
The whole set is toddler safe to the fork and nice have rounded tips so there is nothing sharp that little one can hurt them self with yet they are still fully functional. The knife is pretty useless I cut my children's food up for them with mine as this one is blunt and for tougher things just cannot cut through them. The fork has 4 prongs that are rounded but still pick up food easily enough even for small hands.
My only downside is the colouring of the hand at the bottom of the set has began coming off we have had these for over 2 years and they have received a lot of use and washing but I would have hoped it would have lasted longer for the price we paid. Saying that this does not affect the overall use of them so not too bad really.
They are easy to clean a quick wipe down with the washing up and they are as good as new nothing seems too hard to remove from them and they do claim to be dishwasher safe but if the colouring has faded from hand washing I dread to think how long it would last if they were put through a dishwasher.
I would highly recommend this set yes they are on the expensive side for a cutlery set but we have purchased another for my son and my daughter uses our eldest's as he has now moved on to adult knives and forks. They are fantastic for giving your children a little independence and I am sure they have many years of use left in them yet.
They retail between £7 up to £14 so I would shop around and you can always find them on offer somewhere to make them that little bit cheaper but the quality is worth paying for.
Summary: A great first set
