White bibs with studs
Member Name: katyj10
Advantages: Press studs stay fastened
Disadvantages: White goes grubby
This is a review of the Tesco Bibs we bought before our first baby was due. Every time I went supermarket shopping, there would be several items added in preparation for the baby coming and as the excitement built, so did the purchases!
The bibs I bought were based on a recommendation of don't buy plastic backed bibs as they don't absorb enough... I have actually got loads of bibs including plastic backed and these have been OK at certain stages of weaning.
The bibs from Tesco were a large pack of white bibs, thick cotton jersey material, with star designs on and quite importantly, the bibs fastened with a press stud rather than Velcro. I have found that the Velcro ones fail eventually (and stick to other clothes in the washing machine!) and these ones from Tesco with press studs were pretty good. They were a medium size bib so a little large on a new born but soon came into use.
The fact that they were white was fine with milk but stained a lot when it came to food. As a result some were ruined by tomato sauce (with pasta based foods) and despite numerous vanish treatments ended up a bit grey and grubby.
The bibs were from Tescos F&F range and cost around £6 for six bibs.
The bibs are white with grey stars on so are suitable for either sex. The best feature is definitely the press stud which stays shut and is difficult for our now toddler to pull off (which she does with Velcro, frequently). We have tried just about every style of bib from Velcro, sleeved, bandana, over the head, to press stud and these rank high in my favourites.
It does help to spread the cost of preparing for a baby to buy things in the run up to the birth and you know you will need a lot of bibs over the first few years. These are great for saving the clothes underneath and are pretty thick and absorbent. As they were white, it was hard to keep them sparkling but they washed well and the press studs have certainly lasted so far. We will be using these bibs with the new baby when she arrives and then I think we will thank them for their service and kindly retire them!
Summary: Nice when new, not so nice after a year's use!
