Advantages: Unique style and look
Disadvantages: Teat is too flexible and flow is too slow. Weird design.
After using Avent bottles and teats for more than a year, we decided to give Tommee Tippee a try for a change. The bottle shape is very cute and the design is very unique. The shape is very compfortable so our 15 months old can hold it easily.
But from the start it was not very nice experience. First, all the bottles come with teats for new born baby, even for 260ml bottles. Which is rediculous. That forced us to throw away brand new teats and spend £3.50 for a new pair of teats. It was difficult to locate 6m+ teats, and after searching several boots and mothercare stores, I found 6m+ teat.
Then came the real test. After washing and sterilizing it properly, we filled it with formula milk and gave it to our baby. He was struggling to drink milk from it as teat milk flow was too slow even for highest flow 6m+ teats (as compared to Avent), and teat design was too flexible to handle it correctly. We have to pull the teat out from its inward position many times during the feed.
After several tries, we decided to bin this costly £10 bottle. My feeling is that they just tried to immitate shape of the breast, so people think that this is too close to natural. But this is not true.
Also, it is not very compfortable to open / close the teat and lid due to weird design.
I would not recommend to anyone with 1 year+ baby. But anyway he should be using cup instead of bottle.. correct ?
Whatever the reason, Tommee Tippee don't cater for this age group, just to sell their expensive cups.
Summary: Not recommended
