Tommee Tippee Variflow teats are suitable from birth. What sets them apart from other teats is that the baby can control the flow of milk by using their own sucking power. these teats have a cross cut into the top instead of the usual hole of the normal teats. They are made of soft silicon like all Tommee Tippee teats and are designed to make the transition from breastfeeding to bottle easier. We were using the Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles and my little boy started on the stage one teats. By 9 weeks old though he seemed to be producing quite a lot of wind and he seemed to be struggling with getting the milk out of the bottle. After a bit of research I found it was due to the fact he needed the bigger teat size as the milk was no longer comng out fast enough for him. I bought a few packs of these teats when I first started expressing milk to give in a bottle. I had already bought the closer to nature bottles so it made sense to buy the teats that went with the bottles. I decided on these particular teats as they are designed to be the best type when you are doing combination feeding as I was. The shape of the teat is made so that it is as close as possible to the shape and feel of the nipple. I used Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles when my daughter moved onto formula feeds and thought they were brilliant. She started on level 1 teats but after a few weeks she was sucking so hard the teat was collapsing preventing any milk coming out. I tried level 2 but it seemed too much was coming out and it was coming out of the sides of her mouth. I saw these and thought they were the perfect solution. They stated they were vari-flow so the harder the baby sucks the more they get out and vice versa.
