Advantages: Super value for money

Disadvantages: Difficult to assemble

I bought this prior to giving birth on offer for £19.99 in Mothercare, as I was intending to express as many feeds as possible. I believe it's RRP is £24.99 but Tesco regularly have offers where all Tommee Tippee items, including this one, are half price.

My expressing plans did not actually work out, as I wasted lots of milk when my son flatly refused to take milk other than from me. Despite this, I found this pump to be invaluable as when my milk came in I was so engorged I remember rushing home almost delirious with the pain and trembling as I put it togther to try to express and relieve it.

It was so simple to use and the box it comes in is ideal as you just put a tiny bit of water in, dismantle the pump and pop it all in the microwave. It was as effective at getting milk out as my electric pump.

The pump itself has a few parts - you attach the valve to the main pump bit (the bit with the handle attached), then the bottle screws on underneath. It also comes with a lid for the bottle of milk as well as a teat and cover, in case you just want to store the milk using it as a container rather than a bottle.

The bottle it comes with was really usefel for giving cool boiled water during the summer too (as LO would not use it for milk but would happily drink water from it).

The main issue I had with the pump was that I had difficulty assembling it after sterilising it, I used to really struggle to get the handle part attached. I am sure if I had used it more I would have got the hang of it though but when I initially tried to put it together it took me ages (not helped by my severe case of baby brain I'm sure!).

Summary: Worth buying rather than wasting money on an electric in case you don't use it
