I bought these bowls last week from my local Tesco store as I was about to start weaning my daughter.
The bowls were part of the Tesco baby event so I got them for half price which was brilliant. I only paid £2.25.
The bowls come in packs of two. They also include 1 lid and a spoon. The brilliant thing about the lid is that the spoon fits in the top of it so if you are taking the food out anywhere it won't get lost or dirty, it makes life on the go a little easier you don't end up searching the bottom of your change bag for the spoon!
I have used the bowls now and have found they are brilliant. The best thing about them is the shape.
The bottom of the bowl is a triangular shape which makes it really easy when trying to get food onto the spoons.
The bowls are great if you are a busy mum as you can use them in both the microwave and also in the dishwasher. You are also able to put the bowls in a sterilizer if needed
The spoon that comes with the bowl is just right for little hands; my little girl had no problem at all in grabbing hold of the spoon and aiming it towards her mouth.
I think that both the spoon and the bowl are good quality and solid, they look like they will last for ages.
The bowl is approximately 12cm in diameter so it is a good size and is plenty big enough to hold any amount a baby will need.
The lid is really secure I would think it will be very difficult for it to come off accidently. I found the bowl itself is really easy to hold onto when I am feeding my daughter as it has a little handle on the edge.
I would really recommend these bowls and will definitely be buying more of them myself. It really was an added bonus that they were half price at Tesco but they are still good value if you have to pay full price. A must have for anyone who is weaning a baby!
- Why I Bought -
I bought this Tommee Tippee Bowl and Spoon set while I was still pregnant. I purchased it from Sainsbury's when several of their baby feeding items were on offer. I was attracted to these bowls because they seemed practical. I generally find Tommee Tippee items to be of a good quality.
- The Set -
The set consists of two blue plastic bowls, one transparent and one not. There is one lid that fits onto either bowl which can hold the spoon that also comes with the set. The bowls stack together neatly. They have a handle which makes them easy to hold and take the lid on and off. The bowls measure approximately 13.5cm in diameter and the spoon measures just under 15cm in length. The handle of the spoon is hard plastic while the bowl of the spoon is soft bendy rubber, ideal for a baby's gums. The handle is narrow in the middle with bumpy bits which make it easy to grab onto. The end of the handle is wider. The spoon is very light to hold. All the items are made from durable, BPA free blue plastic and look good together.
- In Use -
I started using the bowls and spoon when I first started weaning my son onto pureed food. The bowls are a good size and accommodate a toddler meal so I still use them frequently for my 15 month old son. I found the bowls to be easy to use. It is comfortable to hold in my hand while spoon feeding my son thanks to the handle on the bowl. The spoon doesn't tip out too easily. The bowls aren't non slip and can easily be thrown on the floor. I believe that they are compatible with the Tommee Tippee Magic Mat which aims to prevent this. At least they are strong and seem fairly resilient to be chucked around. These bowls can be used at home or on the go as they have a secure lid to stop food leaking out, although only one lid for the two bowls. I have found they are ideal for taking food out with us. The lid can hold the spoon which is useful when you take the set out with you as it keeps it all together but once the spoon is dirty I prefer to wrap it up in kitchen roll rather than let it make a mess on the lid. The spoon is a good size for a baby of five months plus. The bowl of the spoon is a fairly average size and ideal for little mouths. The spoon handle is made so that it is fairly easy for the child to hold themselves. I think they are very well made and still look almost as good as new. My only complaint would be that they aren't as appealing to children as bowls that have pictures, this is only a minor issue though.
- Cleaning -
These bowls are dishwasher, steriliser and microwave safe. They are easy to clean by hand as the design is simple and smooth. They have survived almost daily use and washing for ten or so months now.
- Price and Availability -
This set is currently priced at £4.99 on the Tommee Tippee website. I have also seen it in Boots, Sainsbury's and on Amazon for similar prices. The set is also available in pink. I think £4.99 is a reasonable price to pay for a good quality feeding set. I have used it very frequently so have definitely got my money's worth.
- Would I Recommend? -
I would definitely recommend this bowl set as the items are well made, BPA free, practical, easy to use, good size, long lasting, easy to clean and perfect for on the go.
