Tommee tippee magic mat

Baby grandson is collecting quite a selection of gadgets and this is one we bought recently to keep meal times slightly cleaner given that he is at the age wher everything is pulled downwards by gravitational force (and some hand movements!)
**What is it?**
The Magic Mat is designed to stick to most flat surfaces including tables and highchairs, holding plates and bowls securely in place and preventing any major spills. It is suitable for all stages and as expected is designed to be easy to clean. It is suggested that for best results, Tommee Tippee utensils should be used but we have found that all bowls stick to the mat.

**Product and Packaging**

The mat comes in a box with the instructions and information on the back as well as illustrations showing how it should be used. When I get out the mat, I find a blue (also available in pink or lime) curved rubber mat with a spoon like thing on the top; this is the thing that sticks the bowl to the mat.

**How to use it**

For meal times with baby things have to be quick and simple because a hungry baby takes no prisoners, and this doesn't disappoint. Simply place the mat onto the table with the spoon like tab furthest from baby. Press bowl onto the sucker and when baby has finished their meal, release the bowl by pulling the tab. Wipe it withe a damp clothe to keep clean. Simple!!

**Price and Availability**

The RRP is £4.88 and the product can be bought from many baby supplies.

Made by Tommee Tippee, the website, www.tommeetippee.com even has a video showing how it should be used.

**Verdict...**

Contrary to what I originally thought, this does work. It is simple and quick to use and does keep the bowl in place- to get it off the mat baby would have to learn the release mechanism. However, it holds only one thing at a time and this therefore leaves the cup free to be hurled across the room with wild abandon. This i don't mind because he is learning to take drinks as he needs them and I wouldn't like my cup suctioned to a mat.

For anyone wanting to keep baby's bowl firmly in place, leaving hands free for feeding then I would recommend this.

Thanks for reading.
