Advantages: Cheap, nice colours, free flowing

Disadvantages: None that I can think of

Once we started weaning my daughter started getting a little constipated so we introduced water with meals rather than just milk. After speaking to the health visitor they recommended one of these free flowing cups as they are better for dental health, and as an added bonus they just happen to be one of the cheaper options (something that is a definate bonus when all baby stuff seems to be so expensive!)

We started weaning at a little over 4 months and introduced the cup at just short of 5 months when we moved from mainly baby rice to actual proper food.

My daughter loves using her 'big girl cup' she sits in her Bumbo with it and holds it with both hands and drinks herself, it didn't take her very long to figure it out either.

The cups come in lots of colours, we have a red one and a green one. They have a handle on each side to make it easy for little hands to hold and the drinking valve is free flowing so bab doesn't have to suck much to get it out. The drinking valve also folds down to seal the cup for traveling. The valve has 2 small holes for the water to come out of which means that although baby gets enough when they tip it/throw it/drop it it doesn't spill too much.

The lid is also a very firm fit meaning that you can pop the cup in your changing bag without worrying about leaks.

On the side of the cup there are also measuring guides in ml. As well as a guide for making up juice showing you how much fresh fruit juice to water to use, however, it is always recommended to steer clear of juices due to issues with tooth decay so we have only ever put water in.

Summary: Recommended by our health visitor
