Advantages: Easy to hold, good quality
Disadvantages: None
Being a first time Mum I was new to the weaning process and to be honest rather scared about how my little ones were going to take to something other than milk. I knew I was going to need bowls and spoons so just before I started weaning I went shopping in Boots to stock up on a few of the essentials. I saw these weaning bowls in a pack of 2 with a spoon and a lid. I had already used some Tommee Tippee products before and felt sure that these bowls would be of a good quality and so bought them along with some smaller Boots own brand bowls
Packaging
These bowls only had a small amount of cardboard packaging on them and so were easy to get into. It tells you that they are suitable from 6 months which is the recommended age for starting weaning, obviously these bowls are perfectly safe for use before 6 months if you need to start before this time.
These bowls are BPA free which I always look for if the product is going to be in contact with my little ones food or drink.
Using the bowl
I found these bowls slightly large when I first started feeding solids, even though I was feeding 2 they were only having a few spoonfuls each and so the smaller bowls I'd bought were better. Within a couple of months the amount they were eating had increased to the point of needing these larger Tommee Tippee bowls.
They have a decent sized handle which is easy to grip with one hand whilst you are feeding with the other. Being a good size it is easy to spoon the food from at the speed required from 2 hungry little mouths.
You can use these bowls in the microwave which I have done a lot as I would freeze baby sized portions of meals to reheat. They are slightly stained now but I have been using them daily for over a year and I think they have worn really well.
Colours
These bowls are available in a range of colours, I have seen them in pink, blue and orange. I have one transparent pink and one solid pink.
Price and availability
I can't remember how much I paid for my set but these bowls are currently (August 2012) £5.99 for a pack of 4 on Amazon. I think this is good value for bowls which will last you through weaning.
Would I recommend?
Yes, these bowls are ideal for when you are feeding baby. Tommee Tippee also sell a suction mat which will hold it in place on the highchair when little ones start feeding themselves.
