Advantages: Good design

Disadvantages: Can stain

Tommee Tippee produce two varieties of spoon, one for weaning and a chunkier version for when your child is ready to feed themselves, the feeder is made from thicker plastic and is a more substantial spoon which my daughter found very easy to grip and was perfect for spraying food around the dining room when she was first gaining that bit of independence that comes with feeding yourself.

The weaning spoons come in packs of six and cost somewhere between £4- £5 while the feeding spoons are in packs of five and are about a pound more expensive. There are lots of different colours available, we had some pink and some green colours in the packs we bought. The weaning spoons are nice and light with a small shallow head that I found to be just the right size for my little one who has quite a small mouth. They are made from moulded plastic and are very easy to grip. The feeding spoons are bigger and heavier, this means they are more robustly made and hold their shape better when they get a bit more wear and tear especially when used as a drum stick and are banged on the feeding tray.

The spoons are dishwasher friendly and easy to clean however some of the colour did begin to fade a little after a while and one of the spoons got stained from a tomato based sauce, this might have been more noticeable because of the light pink colour and there are darker colours to opt for.

My daughter adapted well to the chunkier feeding spoons and certainly seems to prefer these, despite the extra size she has no problem with feeding herself even if the process was rather messy. The quality is good and they have lasted pretty well for what is a very reasonably priced product and one that I would certainly recommend.

Summary: Good weaning spoons
