Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Milk Storage Pots

Tommee Tippee closer to nature milk storage pots
I first started using the Tommee Tippee closer to nature milk storage pots when one little pot was included in the Tommee Tippee manual breast pump that I bought when I first wanted to express milk. But having only one storage pot wasn't going to work so I bought an ... additional pack of four milk storage containers to use. However, it didn't take me long to figure out that although the little pots were well designed they are just far, far too small to be really useful and now these milk pots are stored in the back of a cupboard rather than being used.
Fpr me the main and only problem with the Tommee Tippee closer to nature milk storage pots is that they only contain 60 mls of milk. And now after a couple of months of expressing I nearly always express more than 60 mls at a time. In fact I was expressing more than 60 mls of milk after a couple of weeks and my baby only wanted 60 mls for the first couple of weeks of her life before she moved up to 90 mls, yes she was a big baby at birth but still in my opinion the storage pots would be better suited if they where larger and would last for longer.
As for the positive points, and there are some. The pots are well designed and because of the large flat lid they are very easily stackable, which will take up less space in the fridge or freezer. The white flat lids are also easy to add a small sticker label on or write on with a pen to let you keep track of the relevant storage dates. Also as with all baby products the milk pots are BPA free and the little pots will sit inside the Tommee Tippee closer to nature range of bottles making transferring the milk even easier.
Furthermore, the Tommee Tippee closer to nature milk storage pots might be useful to anyone hand expressing because they are quite a comfortable shape to hold and they are small enough not to be a hindrance. And certainly when I tried hand expressing I only ever got small amounts and nowhere near 60 mls.
Personally I really wouldn't recommend buying these or any storage pots that held less than 150 mls, which will at least last you for quite a while before you might have to store more milk. I regularly express milk and even nearing three months I still only get somewhere between 60 and 150 mls in one sitting. I just wouldn't recommend the Tommee Tippee closer to nature milk storage pots, certainly for me they have been a bit of a waste of money and so far I haven't found another use for them yet. I imagine that they will end up as part of my niece's art set as little paint pots.
If you still want to try the Tommee Tippee closer to nature milk storage pots yourself you can find them in places like Mothercare or Argos for around £4.29 for a pack of four milk storage pots. The pots are also easy to clean and they are dishwasher and microwave safe as well as suitable for freezing.
Two out of five stars.
Not recommended - in my opinion you would be better to invest in some milk freezer storage bags or larger milk storage bottles. Read the complete review |

Tommee Tippee Disposable Breast Pads
by Chippytarka
I have been a very lucky lady who for both of my pregnancies, I decided I wanted to breast feed my children if possible which I did.And I maintained it up till each were around 15 months old. The first breastfeeding experience was a real eye opener. You have no idea what your letting yourself in for, how your body has a mind of its own ( ... more specifically your breasts! )and how you manage to create a routine for yourself and your child that completely surrounds the boob!
Why would someone use breastpads?
The whole idea of breastpads is simple:it covers the breast, more importantly the nipple, and stops breast milk flowing through your underwear and clothing. It provides comfort and security to mum. Considering that a newborn baby can feed up to some crazy amount like 20times a day, that potentially is 20 times that milk will be flowing from the breast, not to mention all the other times it does it by its own accord! It allows you to keep breast safe and clean.Just think of it as a nappy for the booby.
Why would you use Tommy Tippee breastpads?
This is a company that already has a respected and great relationship with mothers because of the products that they provide for babies, such as there bottles, teets, breastpumps, weening cutlery etc.So many things, that are readily available and well respected. So buying from them allows you to have peace of mind that they know what they are doing in this area.
What did I think of product?
It was never my first choice as breastpad to be honest with both of my children. And that was purely down to cost factor. They tended to be alittle more in regards to cost than other brands, and they were rarely on offer.Anyone that has bought breastpads for themselves knows how expensive it can be if you have to buy them on a regular basis. Alittle like nappies, you have to change them regularly. Not only because they absorb the milk and therefore get full, but also for hygene. 15 months of pads cost wise could have bought me a serious designer bag!
Back to product-on the rare occasions I have bought these ( only twice, when there was no other alternative and I was desperate! ) I found they were readily available in the supermarkets. At a cost of around £3.00-£3.50 per box for 50 for me stand alone didnt seem too bad, but I could buy 80 pads for £2.00-£2.50 thats was the supermarkets own brand.
One of the things I liked about this product was the packaging obviously was a Tommee Tippee product, as they all have the same sort of look e.g grey/black box, cute baby pic on it. Its a very identifyable product out there. The box itself was quite bulky and square like for me, but that was due to the number of pads inside and how they were packaged.
I loved the fact that each two pads were packaged together in their own plastic wrapper, which meant they were easy and discreet to pop into your bag/pocket and also very hygenic.
I found the pads worked very well and were very absorbant. They sat in my bra very well and secure, and I never needed to tape them down to my underwear. They were comfortable, and quite thin and large.Alot more than what I was used to.The pads I normally used were alittle smaller and felt more padded and I liked that feeling.Made me feel quite safe. These worked perfectly, never leaked unless I hadnt changed them quick enough, but my personal preference was I liked smaller and thicker.
Would I buy again?
No, because I dont intend to have any more children! If I did I would probably go with other brands that I have used before and found to be good value for money, such as Sainsburys own branded breastpads at £1.50 per pack containing 40 pads, I found them to be comfortable and ultra absorbant. Thats why I have given these pads the 4 points, mainly down to price but also I prefered a different feel to my pads. Cant fault there performance though. Read the complete review |
