Advantages: wipeable, catch section, can roll up

Disadvantages: not as compressable as fabric bibs, effectiveness of catch tray reduced after rolling

This is a review for Tommy Tippee Roll n Go bibs. We bought some to use as we are now weaning. We aren't weaning the traditional way, we are doing baby led weaning which starts with the baby feeding him/herself finger foods. We were finding a lot of food was getting wasted when it was dropped, when it was perfectly edible if it was given back!

I bought a pack of 2 of these bibs in Boots for £4.99. They appear to be available individually for £2.99. The bib is constructed from a rubbery type material and in a range of colours. The pack we purchased had 2 lime green ones in, though there were other packs on the shelf with pink and purple. The neck fastening has four holes to adjust fit as your baby grows. It says it is suitable from 4 months. My son is just short of 6 months and the bib was just a good fit (not gaping round the neck so gloop could go down his front) now, so I doubt it would have been much use when he was 4 months. The bib's construction makes it harder for my son to pick up part of the bib and shove it in his mouth part way through the meal, unlike the fabric bibs we had used previously.

My main reason for purchasing it though was the scoop. First use, before the bib had been rolled - apple slices 7 drops caught, one missed (though to be fair on the bib the missed one was thrown). Next use banana slices - about 50:50 between catches for the banana slices and drops, but all the gloop that drooled out of the mouth was caught and didn't end up on his trousers. Having rolled the bib up did appear to stop the catching bit from working as well. I imagine the the hole required to fasten the rolled bib would let puree through if you were going that route.

Rolling it up - is a little fiddle to get the bit through both holes. I definitely couldn't do it with one hand while holding a wriggling 6 month old on my lap (I did try). However, I imagine the important bit about the rolling is the material, which does roll very well, you could always use an elastic band or hair bobble to secure it. Rolled, it is easier to store than unrolled, but not as easily as a fabric type bib which would compress to a lot smaller.

Cleaning - was a lot easier than other bibs - it wiped clean really easily. It is also appropriate to put in a dishwasher if you somehow get something really bad stuck on it, or you have your dishwasher on every night. I've washed mine in hot water with no problems, I can't comment on the dishwasher part as ours is broken.

Summary: we'll keep using these - keeps finger foods from the floor.
