Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve
by sparkle1004
My hands can get dry, tight and uncomfortable, especially after cleaning or a long day at work. I love having a nice hand cream on stand by in my handbag to relieve all this and my most recent purchase is the Ultimate Strength Hand Salve by Kiehls.
What does the product do?
The product has been specifically designed for ... those with dry hand that are constantly on the go. It promises to soothe, nourish, hydrate and condition the skin and nails with natural ingredients such as Avocado Oil and Sesame Oil. The product promises to form a barrier of protection around the hands to prevent them from losing any moisture and therefore feeling hydrated all day.
How do you use the product?
You use the product in the same way as you would use any other hand cream. You apply the cream generously to the hands and massage the cream into the skin until it has been fully absorbed. You can reapply the product as often as required.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a pure white plastic tube and there is lots of writing on the front which gives further information about the product. It has a flip top lid that is also white and it is easy to open and close the product, even when your hands still have cream on them. The product will cost you around £14 for a 75ml tube or you can get double that amount in a larger 150ml bottle for only a few pounds more so that might the more economical option if you really like the cream. It can be bought from large department stores and from a variety of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product doesn't really have a scent. This is a good thing in that the cream will suit everyone but a bad thing in that I really like cream to have delicious scent like Hand Food by Soap & Glory does. It's not a big problem for me though. The cream is white in colour as I had expected and the cream has a really thick and luxurious consistency. Despite the cream being so thick, it is still absorbed fairly quickly into the skin so you won't be massaging the product into the hands for ages. You don't need to use much to get the desired results and I have found that a little goes a long way which is reassuring when you consider the price.
The product doesn't make my hands feel sticky or greasy, and I am able to touch things pretty soon after I have applied the cream without having to worry about leaving finger prints everywhere. It feels completely comfortable on my skin and hasn't caused me any irritations or discomfort. It is really hydrated and it removes any signs of dry or dull skin immediately after the first application. It also stops that horrible tight feeling that I hate straight away which is a really good thing. My skin feels soft and smooth after use and my hands look conditioned and healthy. It also seems to be making my nails a bit stronger too. The cream has long lasting effects and I don't feel the need to reapply it more than twice a day.
Conclusion
This is a great cream for relieving feelings of dryness and tightness from the hands after the very first application. It leaves the hands feeling conditioned, soft and smooth. You don't need to use much so the bottle will last you a long time and the product has long lasting results. It's an expensive product but I would repurchase it again. Read the complete review |

Kiehl's Amino Acid Shampoo
by kerrycwy
I was given a set of the Kiehl's amino acid shampoo and conditioner as my christmas gifts last year. I have heard of the brand name for quite some time but I have to say that I am definitely not a frequent customer of Kiehl's. Unfortunately, this product is not able to turn me into a customer of Kiehl's and I probably will not buy this ... shampoo myself.
The package
The package of the shampoo is simple, as all the other Kiehl's products. The shampoo is stored in a clear bottle with a sticker over it. The sticker provides all information about the product. The lid of the bottle is a flip one so you can easily open it with one hand. The bottle is made of plastic which is a bit soft and you may find the bottle shape to change a bit if you squeeze it too hard.
Using the shampoo
Using this shampoo is no different from the other shampoo in the market, all you have to do is wet your hair, gently massage a small amount through the scalp area and finish it by rinsing with warm water. It is claimed that the product would create create its delightful, creamy lather. However, I found that it was very difficult to create a good lather. I have to use a large amount of shampoo (much more than the other shampoos in the market) to create a decent amount of lather. It also meant that your shampoo would run out more quickly!
The result
While the shampoo did not create a large amount of lather, it was able to clean my hair well. However, I found my hair to be very stiff and dry after I rinse out the shampoo, which is very disappointing. The problems disappear after using the amino acid condition but again you have to use a large amount of conditioner to achieve the result.
The good thing about the shampoo is that it is very gentle to the scalp. I suffer from psoriasis so I tend to avoid using shampoo which will irritate my hair. I have used the shampoo for some time and did not find any problem to my scalp.
The smell
One of the main ingredients is coconut oil so you can expect that shampoo smells like coconut. I personally do not like the coconut smell although I know many people like it! I would say that the coconut smell is a mild one and will stay in your hair for some time after washing your hair. If you like coconut smell then you will probably like the shampoo more than I do!
The cost
As mentioned above, the one I received is a gift. According to the Kiehl's website (http://www.kiehls.co.uk/hair/shampoos/amino-acid-shampoo.aspx) , a 75ml bottle (which is the size I've got) costs £8.50. Given that you have to use a large amount of shampoo every time, I do find that it is a bit on the high side and thus I would not buy it for myself. Read the complete review |

Kiehl's Lip Balm
by evallyw
I have been using these lip balms for a few years now, and they have definitely served me well. There are so many flavours to choose from, but I have always stuck with the mint flavour because I love everything minty and refreshing!
The lip balm texture is thick, soothing and slightly sticky. It is extremely moisturising and ... hydrating, which is essentially what you look for in a good lip balm, right? The design of the tube also makes it very easy to apply, and usually I use the tube to put on the balm so I don't have to make my fingers sticky.
Another good thing about this lip balm is that it can actually be used as a lip mask. It is a trick that the sales from Kiehl's told me, basically I put a thick layer on about 1-2 times per week, perhaps more frequently during the winter months where weather is dry. And after waking up, my lips are supple and well moisturised.
Price: £9.50 from Kiehl's, worth every penny! It is called the number 1 lip balm for a reason, I guess. Read the complete review |
