Kiehl's Tinted Lip Balm SPF 15
by melloncollieclie
It is a very simple product and I'm going to have to disagree with the other reviewer and say I am rather a fan of Kiehl's simplistic packaging design. The product itself is admittedly nothing special, it is a lip balm with a sheer tint. However it does its simple job very well. I find the balm softens my lips well and both tinted shades ... (the balm also comes in a non tinted version which I have not tried) I tried have flattered and added a more made up appearance to my everyday day look which involves little to no make up, a slick of this adds a natural boost. The balm adds a subtle sheen and a noticeable boost of colour, yet I find it is sheer enough that I can apply it without a mirror and avoid any clown face side effects. The balm is packaged with a shaped applicator like many tube lip glosses, but I find it just as easy, if not easier, to just slick it on with a finger. The balm performs well as a lip balm and both soothes chapped lips as well as ensuring those lucky enough to be chapped lip free stay that way. It contains SPF15 which is a bonus, especially in summer, and an improvement on the Kiehl's No 1 balm.
This product does what Kiehl's tend to do well; it's non flashy, simple and it's good at its job. It won't perform miracles and it isn't a wonder product though it is a good everyday workhorse product that does its job well with no fuss.
My one gripe is the price, for what it is it is expensive, currently £12.50 RRP, though I have yet to find a comparable product at a cheaper price so I suppose I'm stuck paying more! That said I have gone through two tubes in the last 3 or so years which considering my frequent use of the product is pretty good going and makes the price more bearable. Read the complete review |

Kiehl's Lip Balm
by aoifekettle
I have always been a big lover of the Kiehl's brand so when I was looking for a new fail-safe lip balm that I could keep in my handbag I went to Kiehl's, looking to try something new. I had heard lots of positive reviews about this product, and I particularly liked the fact that the lip balm contains SPF 15.
So, after I spent ... £9.00 on this, which I considered to be a lot of money for a day to day lip balm, I was expecting some pretty good results from this. However, I have to say I was a little disappointed with what I got. This is a good balm, but by no means the best I have tried. The balm is quite fluid, and can become very runny if its in a warm place (like a pocket) and tends to feel a bit greasy on the lips. If you're eating or drinking, it comes off very quickly and when you end up tasting it, which inevitably always happens with lip balm, the taste if a bit strange. The Lip Balm no. 1 comes in a squeezy tube with a screw off lid, but doesn't have the applicator top that many other balms do - not exactly practical when you're on the run.
However, you can't knock the SPF factor which is really important in a lip balm, so overall I would say this is a good buy but not a great one. If you're looking for a basic lip balm, you're probably better off with something like Vaseline or Carmex. Read the complete review |

Kiehl's Lip Balm
by LadyS
I was lucky enough to receive one of this lip balms in a complimentary travel pack on board a flight - well I say one, actually four as we had return flights and I always steal my husband's travel pack before he has chance to open it.
I must admit that I had never heard of Dr Kiehl, so didn't know what a treat these goodies ... were, so when I tried the balm, I was very pleasantly surprised.
Admittedly, it does feel quite greasy when it comes out of the tube, so I was wary at first, but on application on the lips, it makes them feel silky smooth and really thoroughly hydrated (I guess which is the reason why it was given away on a long haul flight). As an added bonus, my lips don't feel sticky at all, and they look really shiny and healthy. Given the recent cold weather, I have been using this daily to protect my lips and they haven't become chapped at all - a minor miracle!
Price wise - well you can pick this up for around £10 on Amazon, which is admittedly pricey (especially when you can pick up a pot of Vaseline for a couple of quid), but this really is such a treat for your lips. The tubes do last a long time - I am only half way though my first of 4 tubes and I have been using it on and off for a year or so, as you only need a very little at a time.
If you suffer from dry lips and are off on hols to somewhere either very cold or hot (or indeed just have a long flight) then I would recommend this product - a definate winner for silky soft lips. Read the complete review |
