Salter Arc Electronic Kitchen Scale
Advantages: nice design, weigh very accurately
Disadvantages: battery life not the longest
These are a black plastic scale and on the front is the Salter logo and to the left of this is a small LCD screen which is 20mm and it is where you will see the numbers for weighing. The dimensions of these scales are 220 (W) x 220 (L) x 38 (H) in millimetres and the weight is 499g so they are very light themselves. There are two buttons on the front of the scales which are all you need. These scales run on a lithium battery but other than that there is nothing more you need to do to set these up.
SALTER ARC SCALES
These scales are very easy to use which is why I like them, a lot of the negative comments I read about these were about the battery life but in all honesty I think it is reasonable. It is all depending on how often you are using these scales but general use I would say the battery should last a good couple of months as this has been the case for myself. These come with an auto switch off feature which is handy if you forget to turn these off but this is pretty standard in most electrical appliances nowadays.
So these come in imperial and metric measurements, the oz function can be good for baking but I do use the grams more than anything as this is typical of most cooking. I find the measurements are pretty accurate on these and it is easy to use them. You can either weigh directly onto the scales or for example something like flour just put it on a bowl and then hit the zero button and it puts it back to zero and then weighs the flour so that you know the measurement and it is really easy this way and less messy.
The maximum measurements on both settings is 3kg or 7lbs which is good really. Also, just be careful about where you are storing these as this may be a problem as it was for me. I kept them in my kitchen but the steam from cooking started to affect these and how they were working so I now keep them out of the way and in a cupboard. It is easy to clean these scales also you just need to give them a quick wipe down and they are as good as new and they are so slim that they take up no room really.
I do like these kitchen scales and regardless of the bad reviews, I cannot say that these are awful as they are not. They do a really good job and weigh very accurately and easily, there is nothing wrong to give these a low rating. If you do a lot of cooking these are a reliable brand and really well made, I haven't had any big problems since buying these. Salter are a brand I'd easily buy again and it is great to have these by my side while baking as I know everything is being weighed correctly on these.
You can get these kitchen scales on Amazon where it will cost you just £9.99 which is really cheap I think for a set of kitchen scales by a brand like Salter.
