I am a big fan of Alessi products and have collected quite a lot of them over the years. They can be quite expensive but I love the funky individual design of their kitchen products and feel they add some design to my otherwise plain kitchen. They aren't for everyone but for people looking for some funky design products then in my opinion they can't be beaten.
The Carlo bottle caps are a cheaper way to own some Aleissi products and only cost in the region of £6.00. For this £6 you get two bottle caps one pink and one blue. They are shaped in what I can only describe as happy little ghosts with big hands. Yes it might be a little strange but for me it works and they always make me smile when I look at them.
They are made from a thermoplastic resin which is really hard and solid feeling. The resin is also extremely hard wearing and in the time that I have owned them they still look like the day I bought them without any damage or even any visable scratches or dents which especially when you consider my cat also loves to play with them shows how good the quality is.
A lot of people who see them immediately think they are going to be useless but these little bottle caps are surprisingly useful and versitile.
Obviously their main use is for wine bottles and for this I find that they work great. I do have to quite strongly shove them on as they don't just slide on smoothly but this doesn't bother me. I also use them on fizzy drinks bottles and one of them is even currently on my bottle of olive oil after I lost the cap for it.
They don't fit all that snugly so you do need to be careful that you don't drop the bottle as the caps will fall off but for stopping things from getting into the bottle they can't be beaten.
They are safe to use in the dishwasher but usually they just need a quick run under the tap to keep them looking good.
I think these are a great cheap way to own some Alessi products and are incredibly fun and a great talking point. Everyone who sees them think they are adorable and no one has ever failed to comment on them when I bring a bottle out with these on the top.
