“ Brand: Argos / Product Type: Colander „
I was out and about recently looking for a wedding gift in various places, when I went into a local household shop that often sells some different items that you don't get in every shop. Although I didn't have success in terms of the wedding gift, I did come across this rather unusual 1 litre size colander for £3.95, which I thought was a fair price. I have since seen the same product on amazon for £3.99 plus postage, so I was pleased with what I paid for it at the time. This colander has been made by a company called Architec, who alongside this small colander, sell larger colanders as well as spoon shaped colanders, all of which are claimed by the company to be 'unbreakable' which given how clumsy I can be at times, is a blessing, although I wouldn't say I have tested its 'unbreakable quality out' as yet! In the shop that I bought this particular product in, there were several different colours to choose from including green, which was what I bought, as well as white and red. The company Architec also cite on their product that this is an 'extra light space saving plastic colander'. I already have a large metal colander which I would use for draining the likes of pasta or for washing a lot of lettuce, however, when I noticed this small colander, I couldn't believe how small and dinky it was. I have mentioned in previous reviews how my husband grows a lot of our own vegetables, as well as some fruit, and it is at this time of year when the garden produce is being brought in and needing washed that a colander really comes in handy. The trouble is, when there is only two of us to feed, I don't often bother getting the large colander out from the back of the cupboard, and simply wash the produce and dry out on kitchen roll paper. When I saw this colander, I thought it would be perfect for washing the small amount of lettuce leaves that we eat, cherry tomatoes, strawberries etc all from our garden. Even better is that this little colander sits perfectly in the rinsing section of our kitchen sink, and thus I can rest it on the edges of the it and let the water pour through as I wash the produce. There are two handles on this colander and plenty of holes to let the water drain through and ensure the produce is thoroughly cleaned before eating. Since getting this colander, I have used it almost every other day when washing produce from the garden, but my purchase of it was a little too late for the strawberry season, so I can't wait to use it next year, as it will be the perfect size and rest perfectly in my sink to make life a lot easier, and mean that I don't have to bother with the big colander unless I am washing or draining a large amount of stuff. All in all, this certainly is a space saving item, and although I haven't tested out the 'unbreakable' theory claimed by the manufacturers I am confident that it is a product that will stand the test of time. I think for £3.95 it is a perfect size for use for a couple or if you are only wanting to wash or drain some small amount of food and can't be bothered using a large colander. A great product!
