      Charlotte Watson tea canister

When we first moved into our newly built house we needed some kitchen items that went with the natural sleek modern look of the kitchen but still had a bit of charm and style to it. Our kitchen has cream cupboards and a black worktop surface so when we saw the Charlotte Watson range of kitchenware we knew it was exactly what we were looking for.

The storage jar is very quaint and old looking and like something you would find in kitchens of old. It is cream coloured and in a square shape and has old fashioned black writing on it. It has a very Victorian look to it which I like. The writing features a little drawing of Charlotte Watson and then it says Charlotte Watson's Country Tea Canister - For all culinary purposes. On the bottom of the picture you see it says Henry Watson pottery - England - Founded 1800. Now, I'm doubting this canister is actually from 1800 but it has that look about it.

The canister is made from cream earthenware so it has a chunky look to it and its also very heavy. The top has a round opening to it and I like this because you can actually lift it up by the bit if you wish by putting your hands around the rim of the opening. At the top is a black lacquered beech lid which is round and tops off the look of the canister well in my opinion. This has an airtight rubber seal around the bottom of it so when you push it onto the jar this seal obviously forms a suction inside and not only keeps the lid on well but also keeps the product that you have inside fresh as well.

Obviously as this canister has Tea canister written on it we use this for tea. I keep tea bags in mine and I would estimate that it holds about 50 teabags full up to the top so its quite a handy container. I would also feel comfortable keeping loose tea in here as I know it would be kept fresh with the seal on the lid.

The canister cost us in the £15 region which is yes, a bit expensive for a tea canister but then we were also going for the look in our kitchen as well and this makes a nice decoration too. We actually have a matching sugar canister and a matching coffee canister as well and the three of them look really nice lined up on the worktop. There are lots of other earthenware products in the Charlotte Watson range too and it gives your kitchen a nice classic look.
