      Great Novelty

I am always on the look out for different kinds of novelties and gadgets. I was at a party just before Christmas last year and the centre piece on the table was a Cocktail Fountain. As soon as I saw it, I knew I would be online checking out different sites to find the best priced one.

I love having different surprises for my grandchildren, so I ordered one online from Amazon. The illuminated cocktail fountain came in a large square box with lots of packaging. Once I had unpacked all the separate pieces, I found that it was very simple to make up. All the different pieces slotted easily into place. I followed the simple instructions that came in the box and it was ready for use within about ten minutes.

The bottom of the fountain contains the motor and the illumination. You then have a large 4.7 litre bowl with little hooks on it. There are eight cups with good size handles and these hook onto the sides of the bowl. The bowl itself looks very much like one of the original punch bowls, from years back. There is a stem running up the centre of the fountain and there are three individual tiered, smaller bowls, which fit onto the stem. The smaller bowls have small pipes on them and when the fountain is running these pipes allows the liquid to cascade down into the large bowl at the bottom.

My grandchildren were here the first time I tried it, so I used diluting juice for them. All I had to do was fill the large bowl, up to the marker, with the juice. I plugged the fountain in, it light up and the juice started cascading. The kids absolutely loved it and I was pleased with it myself. They loved filling their cups under the running juice.

On other occassions, when I have used the fountain, I have used different recipes for punch. I try to make the punch up, in a bright colour, for a better effect. The adults loved it as much as the kids.

There is a noise coming from the motor when the fountain is running, but this is not noticeable when everyone is chatting. The illumination gives a lovely effect and looks good as a table centrepiece.

I found that I had no problem cleaning it and it comes apart easily for storage.

O.k. it might be a bit on the tacky side, but who cares, as it is only a bit of fun.

I bought this from Amazon and I paid £19.99 for it.
